BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an EHS Intern at our Noblesville Technical Center (ITC) facility in Noblesville, Indiana.

In this role, and under direct supervision of the Sr. Safety Specialist, the EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) Intern will be primarily responsible for supporting the administration and coordination of safety projects/activities. Contributes to projects and initiatives as directed for the Noblesville Technical Center and the Anderson, Indiana facility. This role is a year-round internship; full time during the summer and part time during the school year.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide support to Senior Safety Specialist
  • Review site Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Complete hazard assessments and risk analysis for new or modified job tasks and equipment
  • Develop and review written Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
  • Implement initiatives to support the environmental, health, and safety management system
  • Create and provide EHS training to site employees
  • Drive EHS continuous improvement projects at the department level
  • Perform inspections and audits to evaluate EHS compliance to OSHA, EPA, IDEM, DOT, and NFPA standards
  • Lead efforts to achieve site continuous improvement projects

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate collegiate student (sophomore or above) working towards a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Human Resources Management, or relevant degree
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Detailed Oriented
  • Creative; Ability to think outside the box
  • Inquisitive and candid
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as required
  • Local to the Noblesville, IN area

This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner NTC/WHQ Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.  This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses.  He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and co-workers.  In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
