POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Contributes to developing the Quality strategy, processes, and systems to support compliance with customer and industry requirements and achievement of continuous improvement metrics.
  • To provide quality support to the assigned purchased commodity to ensure the integrity of components and products produced by those suppliers.
  • Aggressively drive site quality improvement efforts goal of achieving “zero defect” performance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Oversee effective implementation of the Quality Management System throughout the location through:
  • Provides administration of all audit systems – including scheduling and follow up on audit completion and systems level reporting.
  • Leads internal efforts in preparation for customer and external audits of the QMS. Leads audit activities with external parties, including submission of corrective actions in a timely manner to meet objectives.
  • Possesses intimate knowledge of ISO-9001:2015 and IATF16949:2016 and can share said knowledge with the organization
  • Works with other plants within division or company to benchmark, obtain and share best practices, or implement systems or improvements to the existing systems.
  • Maintains document control of policies & procedures for the facility. Supporting all functions in the organization in the development, revision, and maintenance of necessary documentation.
  • Providing oversight & communication of changes to customer specific requirements to process owners. Performs analysis of new / amended CSRs and standards for gaps within the organization. Cascades changes through the organization & ensure necessary amendments are made for compliance.
  • Provide organizational training on fundamentals of Quality.
  • Lead efforts to achieve & maintain necessary certifications, quality award applications, etc.
  • Provide assistance and oversight in the problem solving process related to quality systems issues or deficiencies.
  • Ensures that internal / external customer needs for Quality Systems are met in a timely and functional manner.

  • Oversees integrity of product quality for assigned area through participation as integral part of supplier management team (SMT).
  • Responsible for New Product Introduction for components deemed low risk via risk assessment with supplier self-managed APQP. Includes cascading of customer and engineering requirements to suppliers, determination of appropriate PPAP requirements, and evaluation of supplier PPAPs, R@R results, etc.
  • Implements changes requested from suppliers via eSCR and internal changes from change management systems. Includes cascading of customer and engineering requirements to suppliers, determination of appropriate PPAP requirements, and evaluation of supplier PPAPs, R@R results, etc.
  • Responsible for directing investigation and containment activities on potential supplied material issues.
  • Responsible for issuing & evaluating supplier responses to CPMs – Complaints on Purchased Material and supporting suppliers through the problem-solving process to ensure root cause analysis & PCA in a timely manner to support internal & customer objectives.
  • Responsible for reporting weekly & monthly department metrics for assigned commodity.
  • Develops and implements receiving inspection plans for purchased parts based on supplier performance, analysis of risk, and knowledge of inspection equipment & techniques.
  • Manages on-hold inventory for commodity, ensuring suspect parts are blocked as necessary to prevent unauthorized usage and material is being released in a timely manner from hold areas.
  • Ensures that internal customer needs are met in a timely and functional manner, including communication of status of issues real-time.
  • Results for this position will be measured by improvements to Supplier PPM, timeliness of response of Corrective Actions, PPAP first pass, PPAP on time, effectiveness of the Supplier Improvement Initiative

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a four-year degree, Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred; and a minimum of 10 years Manufacturing Engineering / Quality Assurance experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge in a manufacturing environment of AIAG Core Tools: APQP, Control Plans, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA and Statistical Studies, inspection equipment and techniques, root cause analysis tools, team facilitation, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of IATF16949 & ISO9001 required.
  • Experience with report writing in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint and graphical analysis in Microsoft Excel required. Experience in Minitab for statistical analysis required.
  • IATF16949 Auditor Certification Required
  • IATF16949 Lead Auditor Certification preferred
  • ASQ Certification a plus.
