In product development, you will work on development programs for flow-guiding fixed and variable turbine control components in exhaust gas turbochargers. Based on our existing product portfolio, you will carry out all the necessary development activities for further development and application in global customer projects with their specific requirements. While developing the components, you will keep an eye on the holistic overall behavior of the turbocharging system and accompany the development process from the design implementation, the procurement of qualified prototypes to the analysis of validation scopes in simulation and testing. In this role, you will also be responsible for creating and maintaining all technical documentation and actively supporting customer projects in problem-solving activities to ensure a smooth transition to series production.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of internal / external development activities regarding system design, construction, simulation and validation with focus on the timely implementation and ensuring the required quality of results in cooperation with the program management and specialists
  • Procurement and provision of prototypes in the internal prototype workshop and from external suppliers
  • Execution and documentation of component measurements and quality control in our global measurement laboratories
  • Definition and coordination of the required DFMEA and DVP&R activities
  • Creation and maintenance of all technical documentation, standards and reports from initial concept studies to application release and start of series production
  • Development and evaluation of design-for-value optimization
  • Supporting problem-solving activities in the field
  • Communication of technical project progress and results achieved in reviews and with suppliers and customers
  • Close cooperation in a cross-functional team with global application teams and suppliers as well in direct customer contact if required.

Your Profile:

  • Dipl. Ing. or master’s degree (TH/TU) in mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on internal combustion engines and turbomachinery or equivalent qualification
  • At least 3 years of experience in the development/testing of flow and engine components or with exhaust gas turbocharged combustion engines in R&D or customer applications
  • Knowledge and experience with problem solving processes and application of statistical methods for data analysis (Six Sigma Green Belt advantageous)
  • Basic knowledge of project management, change management and application of CAE development tools (flow and structure) in the automotive sector advantageous.
  • Experience in dealing with standard measurement and evaluation methods for component measurement (shape and position tolerances GD&T).
  • Basic knowledge of CAD systems (Pro/Engineer preferred)
  • Demonstrably strong team player with coordination and communication skills for working in a cross-functional and intercultural team
  • Structured, analytical, entrepreneurial thinking and goal-orientated approach
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook/Teams, PowerPoint, Excel) for communication, documentation and data analysis required

  • Primary workplace is the development centre in Kirchheimbolanden, Rhineland-Palatinate
