Senior Supplier Quality Management Engineer

Position Summary

The primary function of the SQM is to identify and assess potential forging parts suppliers in China to support BorgWarner commodity plans. Ensure the smooth launch of mass production. Responsible for supplier quality management, including supplier quality problem solving, supplier process capability improvement and supplier audit.

Key Accountabilities

  • Capacity improvement
  • Monitor, negotiate, and control supplier quality performance
  • Driving for supplier CIP
  • Improve IQC quality
  • Issue supplier quality claim in case of non-conformity found in BW plant
  • Driving for supplier problem solving in terms of 8D and 6sigma.
  • Responsible for claim charge back to supplier.
  • Responsible for supplier quality goal setting
  • Plan and conduct supplier yearly audit
  • Support to solve field return supplier related issues.
  • Support BW plant to improve OEE
  • Others assigned by supervisor

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Master / Bachelor degree or equivalent with minimum 5 years auto industry experience.
  • Be familiar with material metallurgy, metal parts manufacturing process, heat treatment and surface treatment process, especially for forging parts.
  • Willing to travel 50% of working time at least.
  • Strong quality background, Good at quality tools and global quality standards, Familiar with VDA 6.3
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Knowledge in manufacturing problem solving ( 8D / 5 WHY / FTA / 6 Sigma / Red X).
  • Knowledge in lean production.
  • Effective communication and summarizing of business dealings in the form of trip reports, supplier contact reports and sourcing recommendations.  
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and in multi-cultural groups to achieve stated goals.
