The Area Production Leader is responsible for effectively directing strategy in designated area of manufacturing to ensure the continuous improvement (CI) for key goals in the area of safety, quality productivity, delivery and cost. This position will serve as an indirect leader over a core cross functional team to set direction for continuous improvement activities. The Area Production Leader will need to work cooperatively with the production supervisors of the area to insure production is met. The Area Production Leader will have responsibility for roll-out of all CI initiatives across all shifts within his/her area.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Above all, ensure a safe work environment. 
  • Support and drive the lean manufacturing system; assign work; and recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, employee relations, and working conditions.
  • Oversee all departmental activities in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable laws. 
  • Build employee engagement through thoughtful incorporation of employee ideas.
  • Responsible for area performance measures and individual employee work performance; provide coaching and direction to employees at various levels within the organization.
  • Responsible for communication at all levels.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year degree is required, mechanical engineering degree is preferred
  • Prior work experience with strong performance history may be substituted if candidate can provide evidence that he/she is working towards a four-year degree
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of lean manufacturing processes/procedures required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills essential
  • Familiarity with proven safety programs or quality programs (i.e. Kaizen) a plus
