This position plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluations, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. This requires devising new approaches to problems encountered. For positions primarily of a research nature, completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree may be substituted for experience.
This position will be primarily responsible for production floor support and process improvement for the assembly of complex, tight tolerance components utilizing automated assembly equipment including power and free conveyor systems, robotics, and vision systems. Additional responsibilities include procurement of new equipment to support capacity uplifts and new programs as well as quoting of new business.


Participate as new product launch team member responsible for designing manufacturing plan including operator work content, machine capability, quality checks and information flow.

  • Evaluates machine builders through site visits, demonstrated capability and financial factors.
  • Procures new assembly and test equipment responsible for quoting, developing and qualifying the machine at the machine builder.
  • Once the machine is onsite coordination of the machine installation, robotic integration, runoff and handoff to full time production.
  • Continued support of the equipment after full time production to include modifications for efficiency,  capability and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting maintenance through trouble shooting and problem solving different machine systems:
  • Mechanical
  • Hydraulic
  • Pneumatic
  • Electrical

Key department planning team member responsible for capacity planning and capital forecasting.

Plans and designs manufacturing processes in industrial plant. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.

Uses knowledge of GD&T, metrology, metallurgy and assembly and test processes to provide feedback to the product development team on manufacturability and create solutions to issues that arise throughout the review process.

Determines parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.

Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice. Controls a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

Master's Degree in Engineering and experience in the automotive industry is preferred

Candidate must have understanding of engineering and scientific theory principles, concepts, techniques and processes and should be able to apply past experience to determine appropriate technique and procedure in efficient manner with little direction or guidance.
