BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Sr. Maintenance Technician at our Indiana Technical Center (ITC) in Anderson, Indiana

In this role, and under supervision of the Sr. Maintenance Supervisor, the Sr. Maintenance Technician will be primarily responsible for electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs of manufacturing and test equipment.  Utilizing a thorough understanding of electrical design and controls, this position supports multiple equipment platforms through the Technical Center, including installation of new equipment, transition of existing equipment, predictive and preventative maintenance of test equipment and fixtures.  Flexibility is needed within this role, as projects can lead to daily overtime and weekend support.  Additionally, on an as needed basis, this role may asked to flex outside of the Maintenance Department to cover other facility needs such as production, metrology, or calibration. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform complex periodic maintenance on automated and other production systems and equipment using knowledge of solid state circuitry, electronics, electrical-mechanical devices, motors, wiring diagrams and schematics, computers, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, inspect, and test a variety of production and test systems and equipment.  Report results as required.
  • Diagnose problems, replace/repair, and test machines and equipment
  • Perform equipment failure analysis and preventive maintenance
  • Install complex equipment and related infrastructure (electrical, pneumatic, HVAC, etc.)
  • Supports the design and commissioning of new equipment and test systems
  • Assists in calibration procedures and documents those procedures post repair
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair work orders
  • Enters detailed work documentation data into CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Assists other departments with stock and non-stock requests for work orders
  • Actively participates in Total Productive Maintenance, continuous improvement, and cost savings programs
  • Supports direct and indirect training of Maintenance Technicians on maintenance processes and equipment
  • Identifies, documents, and shares best practices with the Maintenance team
  • Plans and executes projects and work assignments with minimal supervision
  • Provides support to other facility departments such as production, metrology, and calibration, as determined by management

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • College Degree and/or Technical Certificates preferred
  • Minimum 5 years maintenance experience required (8+ years preferred) with a minimum 3 years’ experience in an environment that maintains equipment in a test, validation, prototype, or lab environment.  Experience should include:
    • Programming PLC and micro control centers
    • Automation/Test Equipment inspection, calibration, repair
    • 480V 3-phase wiring
    • Live Electrical Work following Safe Work Practices
    • Equipment relocation (disconnect, transport, re-connect)
    • Troubleshooting and analysis of systems and equipment
  • Maintenance experience in automotive industry preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation including both mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Demonstrate the following competencies to complete job duties in safe, effective manner: strong troubleshooting/analytical problem solving skills; Ability to accurately follow detailed instructions and procedures under limited supervision; deliver customer requirements on time; ability to lift 35 lbs; ability to perform work at floor level, overhead level, and elevated heights using work platforms, aerial lifts, powered industrial trucks and lift/hoist equipment as needed
  • Electrical aptitude with ability to demonstrate safe work practices while repairing and/or troubleshooting high voltage, typically 480V 3 phase, equipment and systems
  • Working knowledge and/or training of the National Electric Code, NFPA70E standard, and arc flash hazards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience with electrical rotating devices preferred
  • Prior experience troubleshooting electrical devices at the circuit board level and troubleshooting logic controllers and ladder logic machine control systems preferred
  • Ability to work off shifts and weekends as needed
