POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing daily support with human resources activities at the Marshall Technical Center (MTC) in Marshall, Michigan – USA.  This position will working closely with managers, the general workforce and the HR Generalist for the facility.  This is an ongoing intern position for approximately 20 – 30 hours a week. Candidates must be attending class to be eligible for the BorgWarner Intern Program.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Support talent sourcing:

  • Creating requisitions, routing for approvals, and posting positions
  • Screening resumes
  • Scheduling interviews
  • Participating in interview process
  • Coordination of candidates
  • Campus recruiting, preparing and attending job fairs

Support the planning of company sponsored events

  • Intern/Co-Op events, support the Great Place to Work Committee

Onboarding

  • Assist in preparing onboarding materials
  • Assist in conducting onboarding
  • Collecting documentation from new hires
  • Reviewing and improving current employee onboarding and new hire orientation program

Employee Recognition

  • Help to drive participation in the Marshall Star Rewards Program
  • Manage the employee recognition program

HR Files:

  • Assist in maintaining personnel files
  • Performing HR audits, as required

Payroll

  • Timecard collection and consolidation
  • Payroll administration

Misc:

  • Input sales orders for engineering
  • Creating HR communications and updates for monthly all employee meetings

Other duties as assigned

Safety and Health – Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate/Graduate student attending an accredited university with major emphasis in Human Resources or Business related field
  • Preferred graduate date of May/June of 2020 or 2021
  • Targeted start date:  February 25, 2019
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Highly collaborative and team oriented
  • Proficiency in MSOffice
