Manufacturing Engineer II

Grade 10

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting the areas of process development, process implementation, process improvement, and cost reductions. The individual will serve as a technical resource for maintenance, quality, product engineering, and manufacturing; and will work within teams to ensure the most effective operation of our processes. This individual will contribute to the development and implementation of site safety and health goals, objectives, rules and procedures. He/she will actively participate in the Global Star Safety Framework (GSSF) program, as well as, follow all EHS rules, procedures and policies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Troubleshoot problems encountered within current processes, equipment, and operations
  • Eliminate waste and streamline flow and processes using lean methodologies
  • Troubleshoot equipment, assist in layouts for integration of new products into existing plant areas, develop FMEA’s and flow charts
  • Work on issues to eliminate problems by identifying root cause and provide solutions
  • Ensure that all processes are documented
  • Assist in product launch. Teach, educate and drive the Lean Production System
  • Help establish, lead, and sustain a continuous improvement culture
  • Drive visual management into all aspects of the manufacturing environment
  • Be an active change agent


Education/Experience/Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Engineering or Manufacturing/Industrial Technology preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related experience;  experience in the automotive industry or in a global manufacturing company preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and project management skills
  • PC skills: Operating Systems (Windows 95/98/NT/XP), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Database (Access, dBase), etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD preferable)
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming
  • Continuous Improvement and /or Cost Saving project experience
  • Automotive industry standards and process knowledge: SORs, APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEAs, Flow Charts, Routings, TS 16949, etc.
