BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Laboratory Engineer at our SLP Plant in Mexico.

In this role, and under direct supervision of the Quality Manager the Laboratory Engineer will be primarily responsible for providing service to the different areas in the performance of Production Check audits, failure analysis in starters and alternators derived from the tests, issuing reliable and clear information that serves as a support element in making decisions that affect the quality of the product.


• Make updates to laboratory test equipment.
• Install laboratory test equipment.
• Perform product durability / functionality tests.
• Develop test profiles.
• Direct contact with service providers and test equipment suppliers.
• Manage the budget according to plan (capital expenditures).
• Capitalize on equipment.
• Calibrate equipment.


• Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• 3 years or more in a similar position.
• Equipment calibration.
• Standard 17025.
• Geometric Tolerances.
• Electricity / Electronics.
• Statistical studies (R & R).
• Knowledge in laboratory test equipment.
• Experience in updates to laboratory test equipment.
• Experience in equipment installation.
• Knowledge in tests of durability / functionality to products of the automotive sector.
• Experience in developing test profiles.
• Contact with service providers.
• Technical contact with suppliers of test equipment.
• Availability to travel.
• Capitalization of equipment.
• Experience with programs and calibration methods.

This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner SLP Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.  This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses.  He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and co-workers.  In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
