To strengthen our team we are looking for an Advanced Sourcing Manager at our Propulsion Technical Center in Auburn Hills, MI.   

Our Position Summary

The Advanced Sourcing Manager will act as the program purchasing lead and the voice of global supply chain management within the program launch team working on launches for the TS Americas manufacturing sites. This position will be responsible for maintaining financial ownership for the entire purchased Bill of Materials in the Advanced Launch Phase, working closely with the Global Commodity Managers and Local Plant GSM Buyers to ensure parts are sourced on time while meeting the program budget.

Our Key Accountabilities                                                    

  • Responsible for holding program kickoff reviews with the rest of the GSM Team to outline key program deliverables
  • Report status of current production leverage opportunities, sourcing plans, carryover parts/capacity, and raw material economic exposure
  • Work to identify and execute improvement opportunities when budget overages exist in the Bill of Materials
  • Manage launch reports, cost walks, and one pager summaries
  • Participate in cross functional teams, including Engineering, Program Management, Supplier Development, and Manufacturing Site Team
  • Responsible for the sourcing of new components
  • Responsible for managing supplier tooling
  • Manage a smooth transition from Advanced Launch phase to production phase by ensuring that the local GSM team is fully supported
  • Responsible for supporting BorgWarner's new technology products by identifying and driving new supplier technologies
  • Responsible for driving early supplier engagement on new programs (early design input, early prototype support)
  • Initiate the APQP process in conjunction with the Supplier Development Organization and work to ensure that deliverables are being executed in accordance with overall program timelines.
  • Responsible for managing all post supplier nominations / sourcing activities, while still in the launch phase, as it pertains to engineering driven changes:

Your Profile

  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management/Engineering/Business Management Required
  • 5 to 8 years of purchasing or program management experience working in an automotive production purchasing/GSM environment
  • Including a minimum of 3 years working in a supply chain role at a manufacturing plant location
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) a plus
  • Program Management Skills
  • Critical Analysis Skills
  • Excellent Negotiation Skills
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills - Position interacts with all levels of BorgWarner/Supplier Management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, TeamCenter. eRFQ, Web based Intranet Systems, MRP systems knowledge and experience a plus.
