Electric motor and power electronics serves as an integration function for electric propulsion hardware. Software and controls into a specific application to achieve engineering metrics such as performance, drivability, NVH, and efficiency.  Strong expertise in embedded software development for device drivers, hardware input/output(I/O), processing and algorithm  implementation with high-quality C programing/auto code generation across all programs is a key driver towards shorter product development cycles with increased software re-use and reliability. Optimized firmware architecture is a key enabler for implementation of advanced application (i.e. motor control ) software to drive value for our end customers.

In this role, EPC firmware engineer is responsible for all aspects of the inverter  HW software implementation including circuit level diagnostics, optimization of motor controls software by working closely with motor controls engineers, architecture and optimization of overall motor controls software  

across  all electrification programs. He/She will be responsible to establish standardized best practices for software guidelines, ownership of software technology roadmap as it ties to power electronics HW and work in collaboration with basic software team in release of final production intent software for all electrification products in BorgWarner Power Drive Systems(PDS).

Knowledge, Skills & Expertise Required: 

  • In depth knowledge in microprocessors and controls (ex. NXP Power PC,TI ,Infineon TriCore ,RTOS design etc)
  • Knowledge in technologies such as FPGA, CDMA, GSM,GPRS,EGDE etc.
  • Knowledge in using lab equipment like oscilloscope, logic analyzer, Lauterbach, P&E Micro, function generator etc.
  • Experience in developing low level hardware test software (ex. resolver RDC, gate drive circuit etc.)
  • Basic level of understanding in AC Motor Control/Power Electronics for automotive propulsion applications.
  • Experience in developing modules in AUTOSAR architecture.
  • Interfacing with customer engineers and BW engineers to review existing and new requirements.
  • Work closely with customers/BW engineers to help diagnose and problem solve motor control and system level issues.
  • Experience in developing software test cases , regression testing and unit level test cases.
  • High level of technical problem-solving skills and experience in production domain to address vehicle level issues
  • Strong programing skills in C/C++ , Assembly, Python, VHDL.
  • Experience with CAN,CANalayzer,VX1000, ETAS-INCA and SPI communication tools

Education Required: 

  • Required:  BS +3 years or M.S. Degree with concentration in embedded software/DSP electronics.
