The Director, Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) is responsible for managing and driving the data analytics strategies aligned with BorgWarner’s strategic priorities and business needs.  The incumbent will provide strong leadership, vison, direction, and structure to the Enterprise Data Analytics teams and deliver on the mission of world-class data analytics solutions across BorgWarner.  Incumbent responsible for driving effective, efficient, and value-add data analytics solutions.  The candidate must provide leadership in developing and delivering data insights in a timely and cost efficient manner that drive incremental value and results for the Businesses. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the EDA team in support of BorgWarner Businesses, functions, and corporate.  This is a highly visible, expanded, critical function for BorgWarner.

Responsibilities:

The Director, Enterprise Data & Analytics will have the following responsibilities:

Business Improvement/ Growth Champion

  • Partner with global leaders in the Businesses, Functions and Boards on strategy around delivering timely and targeted information and insights to enable BorgWarner to become more data-driven organization. 
  • Supervise and manage the Enterprise Data Analytics team; Data Architects, Developers, and Program Managers.  Manage and develop Business data analytics personnel on a dotted line basis.
  • Oversee the strategic use of enterprise data across the organization delivering insights to improve productivity, reduce cost, improve revenue and margins.
  • Develop a strong foundation of predictive, prescriptive recommendation models around our products, pricing, customers and operations that will drive organic growth.
  • Design, deploy advanced AI, Machine Learning algorithms that would strengthen BorgWarner’s go to market capabilities and provide long term competitive advantage
  • Support BU Leaders in identifying and executing on key growth and margin expansion opportunities.
  • Use company data and industry data intelligently to increase the efficiency of company operations.
  • Optimize and manage analytics software, license usage including processes to administer user licenses and forecast license requests.
  • Manage data analytics budget including  hardware and software requirements, headcount, maintenance and support.
  • Manage project appropriation requests, timelines, expenditures and resource plans for recommended projects. 
  • Act in a data analytics advisory (COE) role to all Business level analytics teams.  Ensure SOX and GDPR compliance of analytics applications.
  • Provide quarterly updates to the Data Analytics Steering Committee. 

Data Strategy & Stewardship

  • Champion the use of data as a strategic business asset.
  • Establish strategic big data and advanced analytics priorities for the company.
  • Develop and administer company policies related to Data Analytics data governance, data monitoring, data processes, data lifecycle, and data sourcing.  
  • Evolve the strategy and thought leadership around enterprise data architectures including big data, industry wide enterprise data models, and architectures.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of a 'Virtual ERP' harmonizing data across disparate SAP systems (Enterprise & Voyager).
  • Work with IT leaders in the negotiation and management of any strategic data analytics supplier software.
  • Work collaboratively with IT organizations and the Businesses in all aspects of the various projects.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Supervise and manage the Enterprise Data analytics team and interns. 
  • Lead, manage and execute all data collection, validation, and analysis activities including risk, spend, commodity and supplier information.   
  • Provide updates to the IT organizations and Business Data Analytics champions on a regular basis

Enterprise Talent Development

  • Build and develop a strong team with the right mix of business, data and tool talent.
  • Attract, develop, and retain talent to improve team productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead the enterprise Data Analytics and GSM Data & Systems team (FTE and external resources), enterprise Business Intelligence Governance, Architecture, ETL developers, business analysts, project managers and be accountable for their performance and career development.
  • Lead by example, engaging hands-on in complex data challenges and Information Management projects to derive deep insights from data.
  • Provide critical feedback to team members on in-flight work.
  • Set the group vision, ensure on-time delivery of analytical projects that provide actionable, data driven insights to the businesses.
  • Upgrade big data and data analytics capabilities of the organization through creation and deployment in training programs and leadership on data-driven business development projects.

  • Experience in data management, optimization and reporting to help businesses achieve efficiencies, increase productivity, reduce costs, and streamline their internal communications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, communicates effectively across organizations and with senior executives. Ability to synthesize complex issues/scenarios into easy-to-understand concepts and “storytelling”.
  • Experience in designing and implementing governance processes.
  • Ability to work with leaders at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Skills and tenacity to achieve results without formal authority.  Ability to work in ambiguous situations and have influence across organizational boundaries.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or related field. Masters/ MBA is a preferred.
  • Operates in a professional manner with the highest personal integrity and in accordance with BW's Code of Ethical Conduct and compliance policies.
