To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Safety Specialist at our Bellwood, IL Manufacturing site.       

Position Summary

Safety Specialist is responsible for the development and management of programs and processes with respect to health and safety, policy, training and organizational development. Coordinate with Supervisors, Team Leaders, contractors and workforce to ensure adherence to BorgWarner World Class standards.  This job requires ability to prioritize multiple tasks and allocate resources to deliver high impact results. 

Key Accountabilities                                        

  • Lead teams in safety inspections, ergo risk assessments and JHA with a high degree of employee involvement.
  • Develop and implement long and short-range plans to ensure safe workplace with trained employees working safely.
  • Identify and lead new safe manufacturing process or modify existing process.
  • Develop, understand and adhere to current health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate investigations, root cause analysis, and drive corrective/ preventative actions.

    Your Profile

  • 5+ years Health and Safety experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Health and Safety
  • Expert knowledge of safety regulations and training as they relate to manufacturing environment.
  • Proactive experience with employee relations, technical writing, training and adherence to federal laws.
