BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Power Electronics Engineering Site Leader.

Reporting to the Power Electronics Competency Leader, the Power Electronics Engineering Site Leader will be responsible for providing leadership and management oversight to a local team of power electronics development lab engineers/supervisors and technicians. Will be responsible for an engineering budget with site facilities and CapEx responsibility. Will assist in the multi-competency engineering execution of projects/programs and will support the local leaders from the other Power Electronics competency areas. Will drive local project teams, be responsible for project execution and mentor power electronics engineers. Heavily involved in recruitment process for local power electronics engineer hiring. Will spend 15% of role developing his/her team/people.

As a member of the leadership team at BorgWarner, the Power Electronics Site Leader will drive and own the site culture while helping to steer the organization forward in areas of processes, methodologies, tools and architectures. Will help bring innovative products to market, while preserving customer delivery efficiency and precision.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership to a team of Power Electronics Engineers and Technicians with varying levels of experience and area of expertise.
  • Plan and manage resource allocation, headcount, local budget and forecast.
  • Serve as point of contact for identifying the needed site capital and expense to add necessary lab equipment, capabilities, and any needed facility changes to accommodate.
  • Advance the group’s individual and collective capability.  Coach, mentor and train staff to align with structured development objectives.
  • Provide program management / technical leadership and guidance in support of customer programs and internal projects. Resolve project issues that may arise.
  • Lead and/or Contribute to organizational continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal departments and represent the group within the engineering organization.
  • Foster and promote an environment built on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Develop and Foster good customer relations.
  • Partner with HR in recruitment and development activities. Create development/career plans with employees while helping them achieve their targeted career goals.
  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures.
  • Identification and closure of safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings, hazards and controls, GSSF actions) and their corrective actions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required (Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree).
  • Masters Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience with prior management experience required.
  • Solid experience developing embedded systems; automotive, powertrain, and power electronics experience preferred.
  • Automotive experience required.
  • Experience and proven track record in leading teams developing power electronics from concept through production.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication (verbal and written) skills required.
  • Proficient in English language required.
  • Strong project planning and management throughout the complete product development life-cycle.
  • Solid knowledge of Automotive SPICE, APQP, DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis.
  • Functional Safety (ISO26262) knowledge preferred.
  • Willingness/ability to travel 10% both domestically and internationally required.
  • Willingness/ability to dedicate 15% to team development.
