JOB PURPOSE:

This person will report directly to the Application Engineering Manager and is expected to ensure research, design, testing and development of Emissions Products, preserving product integrity and functionality with respect to design intent and protecting the customer.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Serves as a key customer contact regarding the application of Emissions Products.
  • Capable of guiding problem solving activities
  • Is responsible for recognizing the need for and initiating appropriate actions to assure positive customer relationship.
  • Attains project and management goals on time and within established budget.
  • Establishes project budgets as necessary.
  • Regularly interfaces with Manufacturing, Quality & Test Engineers and Program Management to address all aspects of product design and function and assure smooth production launch
  • Provides follow-up to Application Engineer Manager of program activities related to release and production launch of product designs
  • Creates, develops or adapts Product Design concepts based on internal standards, calculations, trial, measurements, bench tests, CAE simulations, process methods or inputs from customers.
  • Checks and releases 2D drawings and 3D models within the associated project or product under serial production.
  • Establishes interface with Customer for Product and Specifications definition.
  • Coordinates the Planning and production of Prototype Samples.
  • Creates and participates on the release of the Prototype Control Plan
  • Establishes Prototype Production Cost Calculation
  • Creates or participates on Product Engineering Standards releases.
  • Defines the Product Special Characteristics for individual components.
  • Will require materials selection, standards use and tolerance definition for casted, machined, bent or stamped components.
  • Champions continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs, improve designs and increase productivity
  • Technically assists the production Plant within the scope of the products under serial production, for any required change due to product design correction, upgrade, or cost reduction.
  • Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies.
  • Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
