This position leads the development and management of certain global/regional commodity strategies, designed to leverage BorgWarner collective purchasing power and maximize synergistic opportunities to optimize supplier performance, reduced total supply costs while meeting our technology expectations throughout the supply chain. Ensure commodity plan deliverables meet designed strategies. Negotiate key supplier contracts. Provide global leadership in the communication, implementation, coordination, and enforcement of commodity strategist.


  • Negotiates complex and or critical supplier agreements in line with existing strategies.
  • Recommends supplier selection in conjunction with commodity teams where applicable.
  • Participate in enterprise level commodity teams as required.
  • Follows established procedures and best practices.
  • Planning, organizing, tracking and disseminating information related to production suppliers.
  • May lead complex and or critical supplier negotiations in line with existing strategies.
  • Support and coordinate supplier relationship with internal departments.
  • Select suppliers for existing products through effective use of proven procurement skills in an automotive environment.
  • Continually reduces year-over-year costs through aggressive negotiations, Value Analysis, Long Term Agreements as well as supply base and industry knowledge.
  • Monitor supplier capacities.
  • Support supplier rating.
  • Inform about market developments.
  • Scope of position will include a wide range of difficult and complex problems.
  • Work is assigned in terms of objectives.
  • Review of work results is based on objectives at predetermined milestones.

Safety and Health – Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience 8+ years of purchasing experience (automotive environment desired).
  • Strong Technical Aptitude
  • C.P.M. or C.I.P.M. or Equivalent
  • Negotiation Experience
  • Proficient in English
  • Industry Knowledge Preferred
