The group leverages this understanding of propulsion clutching technology to develop interactive control systems and strategies for all types of torque management.

BorgWarner Morse Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Analysis Engineer at our Propulsion Technical Center (PTC), Auburn Hills MI.

Position Summary

Design, development, and analysis for our chain drive product lines - including components, assemblies and systems for combustion, hybrid, and electric propulsion applications. The primary focus of this position will be applying knowledge in dynamics and mechanics to the design, development, and performance evaluation of our engine and driveline chain products. A particular focus will be interpreting dynamic modeling results to improve the design and performance of the product.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the development and analysis of chain components and assemblies for required functional performance
  • Contribute to the development and advancement of engineering methods and procedures to continuously improve capabilities and efficiency.
  • Support the advancement of the analysis technology development roadmap through expansion and implementation of new software and techniques.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate project plans and timelines as applicable.
  • Support other engineers and colleagues of the global organization involved in analysis / simulation, application engineering, product development, testing, and production preparation.
  • Research into unique designs and/or materials to drive product innovation
  • Invention of new designs and submission of any intellectual property/patents related to those inventions
  • Support or lead technical meetings with engineering groups within global organization and/or customers
  • Plant product support for improved quality, manufacturing efficiency or design cost reductions

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s is preferred.
  • 3+ years of related technical experience.
  • Strong technical analytical skills are required.
  • Knowledge of systems dynamics is required.
  • Experience with 2D/3D Dynamic Modeling software is required.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software is required.
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink software is required.
  • Experience with analysis of frequency-domain based data is preferred
  • Experience with ANSYS and/or other commercial FEA code is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is required.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods for data analysis is desired.
  • Ability to address issues that are highly technical in nature is required.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to concurrently manage multiple projects and priorities is required.
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills, in particular the ability to work effectively in a cross functional, cross cultural environment with colleagues, customers, and suppliers in different locations and countries.
