Position Summary

We are currently seeking a tax professional to join the BorgWarner International Tax Group at our global headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI, reporting to the Manager – International Tax.   
 
Position Accountabilities:

  • Tax Compliance - Ensure timely and accurate filing of international tax returns including but not limited to Forms 5471, 8858, 8865 and 1118.  Work in close partnership with Planning, Transfer Pricing and Federal to ensure seamless execution of compliance related tasks.
  • Tax Provision - Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions as they relate to the foreign components of the U.S. tax return and provision.
  • Audit Support - Assist in the management of federal audits including drafting responses to government inquires and analysis of audit workpapers. Develop audit strategies and interact with the IRS as needed.
  • Modeling for International Tax Planning- Build and update tax planning and tax analytic models.
  • Technical Review- Provide support in the review and analysis of proposed and existing tax laws, regulations, and rulings.  Develop in depth technical knowledge about a variety of international and subchapter C topics while monitoring forthcoming guidance regarding U.S. tax reform.
  • Business Support- Partner with business units and other departments within Corporate Finance to answer inquiries and provide tax support on company initiatives. Build relationships within and outside the tax staff and grow professional network.
  • The position will require strong problem solving skills, decision making ability, effective communication skills and initiative. The successful candidate will work with internal business, finance, treasury, legal and tax teams, as well as outside advisors on international tax areas. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting required
  • MST and/or a CPA preferred
  • Prior experience in a corporate and/or public accounting environment preferred
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing industry preferred
  • Must have intermediate level computer skills or must be able to learn new software quickly (Hyperion, Smartview, FDM, CCH Research (online research), OneSource Income Tax, OneSource Tax Provision, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word)
  • Must have professional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have strong ethics and values and have the ability to maintain confidentiality
