Job Title:   Manufacturing Engineer

Reports To: Program Launch & Engineering Manager

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot problems encountered within current processes, equipment, and operations.
  • Assist in layouts for integration of new products into existing plant areas.
  • Evaluate manufacturing process to generate cost reduction opportunities and complete actions to reduce costs.
  • Work on issues to eliminate problems by identifying root cause and providing solutions.
  • Ensure that all processes are documented.
  • Help establish, lead, and sustain a continuous improvement culture.
  • Be an active change agent.
  • Champion and perform the necessary duties for the GSSF Safety Management System.
  • Champion the sintering process of the business.
  • Oversee all aspects of the ten (10) sintering furnaces, one (1) endothermic generator, along with the carrier finishing cell (CFC).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience (minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Process or Manufacturing focus preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ related work experience required; 3+ years in Lean Six Sigma implementation within a manufacturing environment (primary operations, machining, fabrication, welding, assembly) preferred.
  • Experience in the automotive industry preferred.
  • Employment record demonstrating evidence of manufacturing process implementation and improvement, followed by successful process performance.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing process and equipment, such as sintering, JIT, automation, and secondary operations.
  • Strong leadership, personnel, production, and change management skills.

This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses, in accordance with MIOSHA guidelines. He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and co-workers. In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
