Plan, organize and lead the manufacturing function of a designated production cell area or series of processes to ensure compliance with short and long-term goals as stated in the Business Plan for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Teamwork. The incumbent will have budget and P&L responsibility HVVC- achieve/exceed LRP objectives. The Area Manager will identify, report and reduce major cost drivers and increase contribution margin. This individual will be asked to design and develop and implement programs to achieve aggressive improvement objectives for safety, quality, cost and delivery.

The Area Manager must direct his/her subordinates toward increasing the efficiency of the manufacturing processes, equipment, facilities and run standards. 

Define / Identify key product and process characteristics.

Establish methods and procedures to quantify and systematically improve CPk.

The Area Manager must analyze and synthesize information such as the following: sales, schedule releases, follow finished in-process material, monitor raw material deliveries, and determine the size and allocation of the labor force.

Evaluate equipment needs and provide for the maintenance of such equipment to maximize uptime and the utilization of group and individual capabilities.

Ensure the consistent and accurate application of plant policies and procedures.  This is done through counseling and development that is provided to production in order for them to assure the health, safety, and environmental standards and responsibilities are met.

Participate with other members of management in the formulation of policies and procedures to guide the business in achieving established goals and objectives.  Advise management of the impact of various decisions on the production capabilities. Live and encourage the BorgWarner Values and Beliefs system.

Be the champion and representative for the voice of customer.

Serve as the operations representative for product and process development.

Develop the foundation for high performance work teams and utilize team-based initiatives to drive continuous improvement programs.

Establish "vital few objects" with line of sight to plant wide objectives.

Establish cascaded metrics and goals.

Develop process to support weekly and monthly metrics review focused on team-based initiatives.

Serve as model for plant wide visual factory and 5S initiatives - demonstrated sustained program activity

The incumbent should have a thorough understanding of manufacturing business and experience in a manufacturing environment along with supervision and leadership experience.

The incumbent has the authority to manage the operation in accordance with BW Bellwood policies and procedures by delegating work to the team leaders and utilizing the support staff, such as engineering, skill trades, accounting, purchasing, quality, and human resources as needed.

This position is challenged by having continuous operation(s) that he/she is responsible for managing.

Degree Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in business or science.

Training in Lean Manufacturing and six sigma a plus

Other Requirements:

Five years of operations experience preferably automotive manufacturing

Experience with TS 16949 quality systems and practices

Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing and six sigma techniques

Experience with visual factory techniques including pull systems and 5S.

Demonstrated ability to develop and utilize team-based management techniques

Broad understanding of financial systems and reports including P&L & balance sheet
