Advanced Quality Engineer

The Advanced Quality Engineer (AQE) is responsible for collaboration with engineering and manufacturing to improve design robustness, process robustness, and ensure project compliance. The AQE is actively involved in the design and development process of the product and supports launch activities at manufacturing locations. AQE provides quality leadership in customer requirement management, prototype builds and pre-production builds. AQE leads and provides oversight for the quality and co-release of products, including working cross-functionally with internal and external teams to ensure product and processes are compliant with applicable standards, regulations and customer expectations. The AQE supports Design for Value, Design for Six Sigma process, and product problem solving efforts. The AQE will also lead lessons learned, read –across and continuous improvement projects to support world class quality product development.


  • Core project team member, representing quality and assuring quality on product; this will include verification of engineering and manufacturing deliverables according to the program plan.
  • Responsible for achieving quality objectives in the project in the design and development phase
  • Develop Product Quality Plan, considering customer, durability and reliability requirements
  • Implement and lead design robustness activities using Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools and methods
  • Assessing and evaluating test methods in verification and validation phase
  • Evaluates design concept and participate in design review to meet quality objectives
  • Co-sign design review document
  • Using statistical techniques to create sampling plans and execute data analysis
  • Supports Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), assures that associated risks are monitored and actions are defined to mitigate risk
  • Creates and signs off on Prototype Control Plans
  • Conduct lessons learned, read-across workshops and verifies that Design Guidelines are updated
  • Supports project team to identify relevant field use cases
  • Conduct Critical to Quality Validation (CQT-Validation) prior to design release
  • Leading and implementing traceability of the product and its components
  • Works with plants to support and/or lead Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)

Engineering degree or equivalent experience; 3+ years of experience in automotive

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Broad understanding and application of statistics and risk assessment tools
  • Test method development and validation experience
  • Lean Six Sigma experience, leading Green Belt or Black Belt projects
  • New product development and introduction experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and process/system orientation
