Process Engineer

Overall Purpose: To carry out Manufacturing Engineering activities to support existing, new and developing business.

Key Responsibilities:

1.         Involvement in Capital Investment Projects (£10k to £500k) from original idea, financial justification through to implementation

2.         The generation of manufacturing data

3.         Formulation and implementation of improvement ideas to improved costs, quality, delivery and safety

4.         Identify potential solutions to problems

5.         Ensure safe working practices are designed into all processes

6.         Ensure interaction at all levels within the organisatio to produce and be accountable for the desired results

7.         Maintain and control work documents

8.         Achieve established performance objectives

9.         Maintain confidentiality of all work and personnel matters.

10.       Responsible for ensuring that all actions contribute positively to the Company’s overriding objective of quality, by complying at all times with any relevant procedures that pursues this aim.

11.       Maintain high levels of positivity, professionalism and a positive work ethic.

Safety and Housekeeping

1.         The upholding of health and safety standards, including timely reaction to all health and safety issues

Risk Management

1.         The jobholder is responsible for working in compliance with BorgWarner’s policies and procedures to identify and record issues relating to the management of risk.

Knowledge & Experience:


1.         Mechanical Engineering Apprentice trained

2.         Practical experience of dealing with lean manufacturing principles

3.         Computer literate

4.         Ability to prioritise their own workload to meet customer and project requirements

5.         Ability to work at a fast pace dealing with multiple tasks with limited supervision

6.         Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly

7.         Ability to deal with ambiguity and awareness of possible consequences

8.         Commercial awareness and skills

9.         Ability to maintain high levels of professionalism and a positive work ethic.
