The Product Engineer, Canisters is located in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

In this role, you are the primary point of contact with the customer and you will disseminate and share information within the organization as well as own the investigation or design and analysis of new engineering projects.


  • Understand project requirements and develop the product definition and design.
  • Optimize design concepts in conjunction with manufacturing and tool engineers.
  • Prepare conformance statements for new projects; raise lessons learned and risks to management.
  • Prepare and present engineering documentation for risk-based design reviews.
  • Utilize CAD analysis tools, identify special product characteristics and assure accurate assignment.
  • Develop design documentation such as guidelines, DFMEAs and drawings.
  • Procure samples for test setups, performance testing or customer builds.
  • Support project team implementation plans, timing activities and communication meetings.
  • Perform competitive analysis, benchmarking of technology and, cost estimation.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, DOE, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Basic understanding of statistics, FEA and GD&T.
  • Strong time management and connection skills.
  • Automotive market (AIAG, VDA, etc.) experience and knowledge of automotive emissions
  • Plastic product design experience.
  • Metal bracket stamping and forming experience.
  • Ability to travel globally.
