Title:  Senior Manager, Facilities I

General Description:

The Facility Manager will create and support an outstanding environment for employees to work at the Propulsion Technical Center by providing facilities management and technical services.  Significant experience in facilities management, safety, and environmental regulations is required.  The position requires in-depth customer focus and the ability to perform and manage the key accountabilities listed below. The Facility Manager provides leadership and direction to the technical workforce and fosters team spirit.  Must be proactive and willing to take on challenging assignments and create opportunity where none exists. The Facility manager is considered a technical expert with superior customer service skills.  Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills.  The Facility Manager will possess strong project management skills.  These duties include the daily supervision of Facility Technicians and support personnel and the control and prioritization of tasks.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provides leadership and managerial support to a diverse team of professionals including maintenance staff, facilities coordinators and the shipping and receiving department.  Total of 6 employees.
  • Responsible for all activities related to the efficient operation, supervision and management of the building services.  This includes managing facility security, janitorial, cafeteria, landscaping and snow removal contractors.
  • Preparing capital expenditures involving building, equipment, and other facility related plans related to renovation, maintenance, safety and environmental. Annual capital expenditures of approximately $1.5MM at PTC.  Provides facility services in a timely, cost effective manner. 
  • Maintain department monthly budget and forecast including cost savings activities and energy management to achieve superior performance ($5MM at PTC).
  • Significant customer interface activities including phone, electronic and personal communication as necessary to support the needs of all employees at the PTC.
  • Thorough knowledge of the architectural and engineering methods, practices and procedures of facilities construction and/or renovation.
  • Management of construction projects .
  • Respond to building and equipment alarms and emergency situations, 24x7. Act as a conduit of information for upper management and communicate with all employees in building related emergency situations, power and service disruptions.
  • Proven knowledge of facility management as well as technical knowledge and skills related to plumbing, electrical and HVAC.  Must also have a working knowledge of systems furniture.
  • Manage the upkeep of equipment, building systems and life safety equipment to meet health and safety standards.
  • Inspect building structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
  • Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs.
  • Control activities like parking space allocation, waste disposal and recycling.
  • Lead sustainability efforts in line with BorgWarner goals.
  • Support HR initiatives related to culture survey results. 
  • Supports and coordinates event planning activities related to all employee meetings, customer events, investor day and tours of government officials.
  • Conducts space planning activities according to business unit requirements.
  • Special Assignments – Responsible for support and completion of special assignments as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor degree in engineering, management, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in engineering,  manufacturing, or facilities management
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with general office computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets, office communications)
  • Experience with AutoCad desired
