BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Supplier Quality Engineer at our SLP Plant in Mexico.

In this role, and under direct supervision of the Supplier Quality Supervisor, the Supplier Quality Engineer will work in a professional level to ensure that components and products are consistently manufactured in total compliance to specified requirements under an APQP approach. Applies knowledge and strong understanding of product and process engineering. Leads supplier operations improvement designed to yield reductions in lead time (validation of production capacity), PPM / total cost, manufacturing system –benchmark.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Definition and monitoring of corrective and preventive actions to reduce supplier rejections.
  • Establishment of SPL programs with suppliers and follow-up of SQA and SQD.
  • Perform on-site evaluations and supplier assistance visits to improve supplier performance and achieve the corporation's objectives in the areas of Quality, Cost and Response. These activities include potential vendor QVR, design reviews, control plan audits, product audits, problem solving activities.
  • Participation in the approval and verification of PPAP for local suppliers.
  • Review the design of the supplier's components to ensure they meet specified tolerances.
  • On-site verification of G9 and GP12.
  • Management of the supplier development system.
  • Visit vendors for PPAP approvals.
  • Application of quality statistical tools.
  • Check that the specifications of the components are in accordance with drawings.
  • Evaluate supplier machinery and equipment to determine repair and replacement needs.
  • Development of plans for specification lines and capacities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Mechanical Administrator, Electronic, Industrial Engineer or related career.
  • Time of experience in a similar position: 2 years at least.
  • Technical knowledge required: Manufacturing processes, Statistical methods, Administration of quality systems to suppliers, quality audits.
  • Other requirements: Microsoft Office, APQP, PPAP, VDA 6.3 (desirable).
