Job purpose

The System and Software Quality Assurance Engineer provides the backbone of support for ensuring that the system and software activities required for our PowerDrive system are carried out to ensure successful and flawless launches in production.

It is the end aim of BorgWarner to design and manufacture high quality electronics systems and to eliminate any risks for the stakeholders. As a system and Software Quality Assurance Engineer, on the assigned projects, you will be responsible to ensure the quality of deliveries (including SW and HW integration) to customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Define System and Software Quality Plan.
  • Monitor quality metrics as defined in Quality Plan to ensure correct system integration.
  • Perform independent reviews of project team member work products & guide the team to ensure work product alignment with ASPICE.
  • Track non-conformance/ findings/action plan from different reviews/assessment till closure.
  • Identify and escalates issues for non-compliances.
  • Support problem solving to ensure that systemic root cause is addressed, and lessons learned are deployed by applying tools such 8D, 5Y.
  • Perform internal ASPICE assessments.
  • Coach the project team to understand ASPICE.
  • Monitor process adherence.
  • Participate in any external or internal audits, any customer meetings for topics related to System and Software Quality (ASPICE, IATF 16949, etc.).
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement with Engineering Excellence team to cascade best practices in BorgWarner standard process EDF (Electronics Development Framework).
  • Report the quality assurance process performance, the project team system, and SW quality metrics and any risks identified to the management.
  • Participate in customer meetings and present system and Software Quality status.

What we’re looking for

  • Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Software Engineering or System Engineering with track record experience in the automotive industry in the system and software domain
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive embedded software
  • Knowledgeable in Quality management (ASPICE / CMMI) in System and Software electronics systems
  • Certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE® would be a plus
  • Fluency in English

Desirable Experience/Skills

  • Demonstrated Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or Software Quality Assurance competency
  • Experience delivering a system/software product
  • Skills in tools and process for Quality Assurance (audits, problem solving)
  • Knowledge and awareness of ISO 26262 , FMEA
