BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Product & Failure Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead operations and customer satisfaction in the execution of first level line pull First Time Quality (FTQ) analysis on Electronic / Electrification products

  • Perform real time second level FTQ analysis in accordance with established metrics

  • Provide support for current production and new product launches

  • Participate in validation failure analysis

  • Continuous improvement and lessons learned for procedures

  • Lead product configuration change management (CR/CN)

  • Utilize statistical problem-solving tools

  • Establish and communicate standard work instructions and procedures

  • Assist SQE’s in resolution of supplier issues using structured problem solving methods

  • Define rework process, equipment, procedures, work instructions, and workplace organization

  • Create and maintain all reports, and ensure on time reports preparations

  • Keep very high level of the 5S in lab area

  • Report identified safety risks and opportunity for improvement

  • Implementation of new analytical techniques and their validation

  • Perform electrical and software analysis

  • Proactively plan for lab test benches and equipment for new product introduction

  • Perform memory verification for MOL (Middle of Line) and EOL (End of Line) programming process

  • Perform label verification for EOL programming process

  • Perform second level SMT line component placement verification

  • Develop product re-programming capability at CPE lab

  • Perform analysis of customer assembly plant returns with 24 hours initial assessment

  • Perform on time warranty analysis on customer returns

  • Initiate measures to improve customer RPPM (Returned Parts Per Million) and warranty CPV (Complaints Per Vehicle) / IPTV (Incident Per Thousand Vehicles)

  • Evaluate and approve supplier component substitutions

  • Lead supplier change evaluation and provide technical support to the customers

  • Initiate and implement Material Cost Improvement Process (MCIP) projects on products

  • Work with customer satisfaction to lead product scrap reduction initiatives

  • Responsible for implementing corrective actions of nonconforming product or processes (including stopping production if necessary) and inform management promptly of such actions

  • Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards

  • Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule

  • Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules

  • Respect and comply with environmental policy rules

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor/Master Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering / Robotics / Mechatronics or related area

  • Understand components specifications, datasheets, schematics, design requirements

  • Understand analog and digital electronic circuits (power switching, closed loop voltage/current feedback, MOSFET drivers, PWM circuits)

  • Understand communication protocols: CAN, LIN, SPI, UART, RS232, Flex Ray

  • Perform theoretical calculations and analytical analysis

  • Knowledge of microcontroller architecture and memory organization (generic, NXP and Infineon MCUs are recommended)

  • Programming in C/C++, C#, batch/PowerShell scripts

  • Knowledge of high voltage / high power electronics

  • Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electrical loads, etc.

  • Capability of creating documentation (procedures, work instructions, etc.)

  • Good MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills

  • Results Oriented

  • Fluent in English

  • Avalability for International Business travels
