DUTIES: Borgwarner Transmission Products, LLC seeks a Simulation Engineer based out of our office at 700 25th Avenue Bellwood, Illinois 60104. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position requires domestic travel, as needed, up to 10%.

Responsible for participating as a team member on various manufacturing and industrial engineering projects; conducting discrete Event Simulation for future state scenarios to calculate capacity, utilization, number of equipment’s, and resources; conducting data collection from existing systems/processes and validate the data with statistical analysis; developing simulation models for what if scenarios using Plant Simulation and creating additional objects by developing the program in Plant Simulation; executing simulation runs, result analysis and interpretation; developing layout and process plan to achieve required TAKT time for high mixed model production of powertrain manufacturing; conducting time studies and line balancing for mixed model production line; implementing lean manufacturing, Just in Time & SMED concepts on assembly processes; performing material flow analysis, layout design and planning for assembly, fabrication, and machining layouts; providing regular status updates and participating in team planning sessions; developing presentations and reports (data, technology description, etc) to be presented to internal and/or external customers; conducting data acquisition from external files and systems; conducting Advanced Transportation Techniques (Automatic Routing, Tugger Trains, Cranes, Stores, etc.); using Model Optimization Techniques and Random Numbers (Distributions, Data Fit Tools, Confidence Intervals, Sequential Sampler, Variants Generator, Custom States, etc.); conducting analysis of Variance, Variance Reduction, Neural Networks, Distributed Simulation, Fuzzy Logic; and using genetic Algorithms (optimization with simulation, sequential optimization, combined optimization, batch).

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field and 120 months in the job offered or related. Experience must include: experience with automotive manufacturing processes including simulation, assembly, machining, and fabrication; experience with assembly process planning and lean manufacturing; experience with Plant Simulation software from Siemens Tecnomatix; experience with object oriented programing; and experience with statistical data analysis, production systems, operation research and material management. Domestic travel required, as needed, up to 10%.
