This position is in BorgWarner’s Corporate Advanced Engineering group. This is a dynamic team environment that combines the best aspects of both research and production organizations. The Advanced Engineering department leads and supports advanced projects in all areas of advanced propulsion while fostering an environment of teamwork and innovation that positively impacts the auto industry

The Vehicle Simulations Engineer will be responsible for supporting advanced projects with vehicle simulations. These projects will be quite varied in nature, but will primarily be related to hybrid and electric vehicle propulsion systems. This position will could include supplier and customer interface, both with internal and external customers.

It is also expected that the person will participate in the development of new product/process opportunities to help provide profitable growth.


  • Support advanced projects in the areas of vehicle propulsion system simulation
  • Provide vehicle system-level guidance for projects in areas of energy management, legislative compliance, and drivability.
  • Support the development of effective system simulation models/tools
  • Form cooperative relationships with business units to encourage information exchange and collaboration.
  • Provide documentation of project learnings to update the project team and to educate others
  • Propose and/or support the development of new concepts to broaden our capabilities and product portfolio
  • Analyze project results and draw conclusions, make recommendations and determine next steps. 
  • Present results and recommendations to cross-functional groups to solicit input, gain consensus and inform the organization
  • Effectively interface / support Business Units concerning vehicle simulations as it relates to their components and sub-systems


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)

BS in Mechanical or Electrical engineering required

  • Masters or Phd degree in propulsion system modeling preferred
  • Firm understanding of propulsion systems
  • 1-3 years of propulsion system model development a plus.  
  • Preferred experience with commercial simulation tools (Matlab, Simulink, GT-Suite, AVL-SimDrive, AMEsim, Powertrain System Analysis Toolkit (PSAT), Autonomie)
  • Must be a versatile contributor with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Good communication and presentation skills in a global environment.
