POSITION SUMMARY:  

The CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) Development Engineer is responsible for supporting product design and development through computer-based design analysis activities..  The primary products involved in this job are transmission hydraulic control modules and subassemblies including solenoid actuated hydraulic valves used in conventional, hybrid and electric vehicle transmissions. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support new and current product design analysis using simulation methods to develop the performance of transmission hydraulic control module assemblies, solenoids and related components. 
  • Support performance optimization, sensitivity and Monte Carlo analysis as well as functional troubleshooting. 
  • Act as technical support, including training of Project Engineers in the global organization utilizing simulation tools 
  • Support development and implementation of CAE group functional and technical capabilities; carry and manage CAE group internal initiatives. 
  • Work with Project Engineers to correlate testing on components and assemblies.   
  • Use of 1D simulation tools including AMESim and MatLab/Simulink to assist with performance-based product design decisions 
  • Develop and introduce new analytical techniques as needed to benefit product design and development as well as providing technical support and training for Product Engineers using these 1D simulation tools. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Master’s in M.E. preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication and comprehension skills
  • Ability to understand the basic physics involved in a complex engineering problem and break it down into simpler constituents
  • Experience with transmission or transaxle assemblies, control modules, clutches and solenoids
  • 1-3 years minimum 1D simulation experience in hydraulic controls
  • Software Experience: AMESim and Matlab/Simulink
