Job purpose BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Electrification Engineering Manager – Electronics Hardware Architect (eHWA) at our Indiana Technical Center in Noblesville and Kokomo, Indiana.

In this role, The Electrification Engineering Manager - eHWA will be primarily responsible for staffing and managing a team of engineering specialists in electronics, specifically for use in power electronics applications. Will be expected to oversee the technical execution of their team and deliver to the project timeline and objectives. Will ensure that BorgWarner’s electronics Hardware products are properly specified, designed and tested to meet customer performance requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Technical oversite of power electronics electrical hardware architecture engineers and electrical development lead engineers within the power electronics hardware team.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate efforts of the power electronics team to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Help deliver flawless design and launch/commercialization processes
  • Manage and prioritize workload of the team and related outside resources.  Maintain visibility of workload to engineering organization.
  • Development of team including talent management system cycle processes.
  • Matching of team’s career growth needs, with the available training and job-assignment opportunities.
  • Recruitment of new employees and retention of existing.
  • Create standard work processes, and design templates & guidelines for power electronics / electronics products
  • Create and maintain power electronics product and technology roadmaps.
  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures.
  • Identification and closure of safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings, hazards and controls, GSSF actions) and their corrective actions.
  • Ensure team resources, skills and knowledge are available to meet project needs.
  • Review and resolve priority task conflicts within the team.
  • Provide a first line of escalation for competency and resource team issues.
  • Facilitate clear and open communication within the team.
  • Be a technical leader in the competency development field.
  • Define, develop and maintain technical guidance documentation for development roles within the group.
  • Interface with customers to commit to deliverables and timing.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 8 years electronics engineering experience required with a minimum of 3 years specific to electronics hardware design.
  • Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Automotive experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiar with requirements gathering and management tools such as Polarion.
  • Experience of working within an ASPICE based process environment (or similar).
  • Excellent people skills and history of teamwork.
  • Determines best techniques/procedure and applies for analysis, design, or experimental procedures.
  • Documents and shares best-practices.
  • Mentors the less experienced; role model for BW Beliefs.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Willingness/ability to travel 10% both domestically and internationally.
  • Process focused with good communication skills.
  • Experience delivering a project with functional safety (ISO26262) requirements.
  • Propulsion or electric motor system experience.
