BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Semiconductor Test Engineer at our Indiana Technical Center (ITC) in Kokomo, Indiana.

In this role, and under direct supervision of the Semiconductor Product & Test Engineering Manager, the Semiconductor Test Engineer will work with other members of a Semiconductor team to develop automatic test equipment (ATE) based  Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) test applications (hardware and software), deploy those test applications at a production facility, and provide ongoing support for those test applications after production launch.

Job Duties:

  • Develop ASIC test applications for characterization, qualification end-point testing, and production testing
  • Design and debug custom hardware needed to interface an ASIC to the ATE
  • Write and debug the test programs which control the ATE during the testing of ASIC
  • Validate test applications to ensure compliance with IC specifications and manufacturing needs
  • Document and communicate details of test applications to both internal and external organizations
  • Deploy test applications to the production test sites
  • Accurately estimate time and tester resources needed to test new ASICs in a production environment
  • Perform testing and data collection in support of ASIC characterization and evaluation, sample part delivery, and ASIC validation
  • Analyze test results and identify of ASIC performance issues
  • Participate in peer reviews
  • Support the test needs of ASICs released to production, including yield improvements, test time reduction and other cost reduction activities
  • Production Part Approval Process compliance


  • BS in Engineering, required; degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering preferred
  • 5 years’ experience is preferred, but open to consider those with less years’ experience depending on educational and work history background relative (internships included) to this role
  • Effective teamwork skills; proven by example
  • Good English verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of analog circuitry and digital circuitry, and able to troubleshoot circuits
  • Good understanding of the testing of analog/mixed signal and/or power management circuits
  • Working experience with basic electrical laboratory equipment: Oscilloscopes, Digital Multimeters, etc.  
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Software programing experience, writing and debugging applications, ATE programing preferred
  • Statistical analysis understanding with experience performing large data set analysis
  • Understanding of integrated circuit manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, assembly, and test
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally on an infrequent basis


  • MS Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with Automatic Test Equipment
  • Experience using schematic capture tools
  • Experience with Visual Basic for Applications
