Standard Duites :  

25% Design New Transfer Case Systems                               

15% Coordinate component release engineers' and designers' work              

10% Order prototypes, coordinate validation, participate in prototype builds   

10% Iterate design based on DV and PV test results              

40% Provide engineering support for customers, suppliers, and simultaneous engineering group (SEG) via email, audio, and video conferences                         

                                   

Performs full range of technical work including assignments requiring special qualifications/ attainments

  • Identifies need for and reviews re-use data bases. Forecasts work activities for self and others. Defines and develops best-practices processes.
  • Follows/supports the development of new TPCTP.
  • Supports/leads implementation of critical initiatives                 
  • Provides leadership and motivation to the team to execute the Engineering Release and Change processes; ensures design standards are followed.
  • Lead and/or support the engineering activities associated with the product development process for mechanical hardware from new business opportunity through production launch. 
  • Engage early on in customer quotation requests and at time be a working level team member to support pursuit activities.
  • Direct management responsibility for multiple engineers having responsibility for execution of product assembly development to production release.
  • Develop and coach team members to continually improve skills sets for career development objectives in technical and leadership paths.
  • Deep understanding of the Engineering disciplines related to the design, development, manufacture, and testing of responsible products.
  • Supports plant and organization objectives such as cost savings and warranty reduction.
  • Support customer interaction as needed to provide technical and leadership for the organization.
  • Collaborate with other engineering leaders of product lines and technical competencies to achieve the project deliverables.
  • Participate in strategic discussions and goal setting for future success of Drivetrain Engineering department.
  • Other duties as assigned.       

Additional Information:

  • Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time.

Safety and Physical Requirements:

  • All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with the safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear PPE when appropriate in designated campus areas.
  • Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. on occasion.

Problem Solving Customer Focus Informing Creativity Learning on the Fly Timely Decision Making

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s Degree preferred
  • 8+ years of related experience          
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team to meet challenging goals is required
  • Experience in taking a product from design concept to full production is required
  • Experience in powertrain, driveline and/or 4WD systems is preferred
  • Experience and/or training in the development and maintenance of DFMEAs is required
  • Experience and/or training in Root Cause Analysis is required
  • Experience and/or training in APQP is preferred
  • Experience and/or training in DFM/DFA is preferred
  • Manufacturing and assembly process knowledge preferred
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Ability to use common software required
  • Knowledge of IATF is preferred
  • Ability to read prints and knowledge of GD&T is preferred
