Job purpose

The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

This position will provide timely and accurate warehousing and retrieval of materials needed for production and key support services through the safe operation of the automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS). 

Key responsibilities

  • At all times, operate the AS/RS in a safe and responsible manner so as to prevent injury to personnel or damage to expensive, mission-critical equipment.
  • Operate AS/RS safely and effectively in automatic, semi-automatic and manual mode.
  • Take appropriate corrective action for routine crane faults, hardware and software errors to assure maximum system uptime.
  • Utilize SAP on a daily basis as the host system for all transactions into and out of the AS/RS.
  • Support all product lines, production areas and support functions of the facility with timely and accurate retrieval of requested items.
  • Pick to exact quantities for those production areas needing discrete retrieval quantities.
  • Transport retrieved material to designated destination areas in a safe and timely manner.
  • Operate powered industrial truck in a safe manner while inputting, retrieving and transporting material.
  • Verify the accuracy of part numbers and quantities for items entering and leaving the AS/RS.
  • Perform periodic cycle counts with internal and external auditors to assure AS/RS accuracy.  Complete related logs and documentation, as required.
  • Perform visual inspection of part quality; take appropriate corrective action and complete related quality audit logs, as required.
  • Respond in a timely manner to requests for non-production or other special items which may be stored in the AS/RS.
  • Assist the Maintenance Department in diagnosing and correcting AS/RS problems.
  • Participate as a key player in the annual physical inventory and related audit activities.
  • Actively promote and maintain a strong customer service mindset.
  • Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures.
  • Identify and close safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings) and their corrective actions.
  • Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies.
  • Must maintain a 3.0 or higher on performance evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

What we’re looking for

  • Completion of high school or equivalent. 
  • This position requires a High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Possession of a current, valid powered industrial truck operator’s license is required.
  • In addition, stacker operators must be capable of learning and applying highly technical system software and Programmable Logic Controller training to the daily operation of the AS/RS.
  • The ability to communicate verbally and to maintain concise and accurate written documentation is essential. Effective listening skills are required. Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations.
  • Needs Microsoft Office and Outlook experience.
  • Must have scored a 3.0 or higher on most recent performance evaluation.
  • Attendance on the job is essential.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
