BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Equipment Support and Facility Maintenance Technician at our Noblesville Technical Center (NTC) in Noblesville, Indiana.

In this role, and under supervision of the Sr. Maintenance Supervisor, the Equipment Support and Facility Maintenance Technician will be primarily responsible for electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs of manufacturing and test equipment. Utilizing a thorough understanding of electrical design and controls, this position supports multiple equipment platforms through the technical center, including installation of new equipment, transition of existing equipment, and predictive and preventive maintenance of test equipment and fixtures.  Flexibility is needed within this role, as projects can lead to daily overtime and weekend support.  Other general plant maintenance duties are required, including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, and automotive type repairs. This occupation requires formal training in industrial electronics and maintenance. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform complex periodic maintenance on automated test and production systems and equipment using knowledge of solid state circuitry, electronics, electrical-mechanical devices, motors, wiring diagrams, schematics, computer based applications and tools.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, inspect, and diagnose test and production systems containing at a minimum:  sensors, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, CNC controls, 3-phase electrical, linear motion, air compressors, pumps, cooling towers, HVAC and industrial lighting.
  • Fabricate and assemble mechanical components to repair, modify, or improve processes and increase machine up-time
  • Support the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and test systems including infrastructure (electrical, pneumatic, HVAC, etc.)
  • Function in a work order based system including documentation retention in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance with written detailed parameters/steps
  • Plan and execute projects and work assignments with minimal supervision


  • High School diploma or GED required
  • College Degree and/or Technical Certificates preferred
  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience required, however, preference will be given to individuals with 8+ years’ experience. Experience must include working in an environment that maintains equipment in manufacturing, test, validation, prototype, or lab environment
  • Experience with inspection, calibration, and repair of automation/test equipment in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Working knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation including both mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to accurately follow detailed instructions and procedures under limited supervision; deliver customer requirements on time
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. and stand on feet for 8 hours
  • Ability to perform work at floor level, overhead level, and elevated heights using work platforms, aerial lifts, powered industrial trucks and lift/hoist equipment as needed
  • Electrical aptitude with ability to demonstrate safe work practices while repairing and/or troubleshooting high voltage, typically 480V 3 phase, equipment and systems including panel wiring and field wiring
  • Strong electrical and electronics background preferred: PLC controllers, servo amplifiers, VFDs, sensors, HMI, 3-phase power, AC/DC motors
  • National Instruments with LabVIEW software experience preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical devices at the circuit board level and troubleshooting logic controllers and ladder logic machine control systems preferred
  • Familiarity with equipment-based software management, backup, and support
  • Working knowledge of and/or training in the National Electric Code, NFPA70E standard, and arc flash hazards
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Competency to complete job duties in safe, effective manner including following all OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Welding & fabrication experience (MIG, TIG, ARC) preferred
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of bearing, motor, and shaft installation and alignment, using precision tools
  • Experience with spare parts management/MRO
  • Flexibility to work multiple shifts, overtime, and weekends
