Community Involvement

BorgWarner Water Valley is committed to giving back to the community.

The Water Valley site celebrated the BorgWarner Global Safety Day by hosting the winners of an art contest involving local K-6 grade schools.  The students were asked to create artwork depicting "what safety means to me," and 14 winners were recognized at an awards ceremony and reception that school administrators and parents also attended.  A calendar featuring the winning submissions along with home safety tips were distributed to all of our employees, the winners and their respective schools.

In 2020, as a recipient of the CEO Safety Excellence Award, the site was granted funds to donate to charities of its choice.  The Water Valley site donated $10,000 to Compassion Ministries and the Reedy Acres Children's Village.

In 2020 and 2021, BorgWarner Water Valley participated in a Read to Succeed campaign to purchase books for two local elementary schools.  Our employees raised monies to provide much-needed books for each classroom and school library.  The schools, students, and teachers greatly benefited from the generous donations.

Employees also give back to the community by creating cards for local Veterans' Home residents for Veteran’s Day. For Valentine’s Day, employees made cards that were then delivered to the residents of the local nursing home.

Several times a year employees volunteer time to pack boxes of food for local residents in need through Compassion Ministries.

In addition, BorgWarner partnered with the local school system to organize a food drive to provide non-perishable foods for students to take home on weekends.
