BorgWarner Produced Over 1.5 Million Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valves in China

BorgWarner manufactures EGR Valves at its Facility in Ningbo to Serve Increasing Customer Demand for Environmentally Friendly Technologies for Passenger Cars and Commercial Vehicles

Auburn Hills, Michigan, September 16, 2014 – BorgWarner’s production facility in Ningbo, China, has produced more than 1.5 million exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves for passenger cars and commercial diesel vehicles. BorgWarner’s EGR valve delivers precise and responsive control and provides higher operating pressures and flow rates in a compact design. Starting in 2010 with the production of EGR valves and adding EGR coolers and EGR modules in 2013, BorgWarner’s plant in Ningbo has been supplying several European and Chinese customers. BorgWarner expects demand to increase over the coming years and plans to produce one million EGR valves annually in Ningbo beginning in 2016.

“BorgWarner’s advanced emissions products - including our EGR cooler and the complete EGR module - are key technologies for passenger cars and commercial diesel vehicles, engineered to help OEMs meet stringent emissions standards,” said Brady Ericson, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Emissions Systems. “With increasing production at our Ningbo plant, we are strengthening our market-leading position in EGR products with local production to serve our customers’ needs quickly and efficiently.”

BorgWarner’s advanced EGR module integrates an EGR cooler, EGR valve and EGR tubes in one compact system that provides improved reliability, response and efficiency to optimize exhaust gas recirculation. Designed to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, BorgWarner’s EGR valve features precise and responsive control combined with high flow capability, excellent sealing, good corrosion resistance and reliable operation.
