BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Functional Safety L2 Systems Engineer at our facility in Izmir, Turkey.

Functional Safety L2 Systems Engineer for Power Electronics

Main Duties and Responsibilities: In this role, the Functional Safety L2 Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing system solutions, and supporting software solutions, for various power electronics products including high voltage inverters.

Job Duties:

  • Decomposition of customer stakeholder requirements and safety goals/concepts into system requirements, software requirements, and safety mechanisms

  • Create, and execute, system integration and qualification verification/validation plans related to functional safety system/software components

  • Development of system architectures and designs/models for assigned functional safety monitors.

  • Support software engineers in creating software solutions that meet the functional safety system requirements and designs

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on functional safety topics and aid in fostering a work environment that keeps safety in mind.

  • Work with Functional Safety Manager(s) to ensure ISO26262 compliance on all work products


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics, Control, Automotive, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field

  • Experience with vehicle embedded systems and functions preferably on high voltage power electronics products

  • Deep knowledge of automotive systems and software development processes using the V-Model for both design and verification/validation activities

  • Understanding of ISO 26262 and experience developing major work products for a functional safety program

  • Experience with Activity Management Software (i.e. Jira) and Requirements Management Software (i.e. Polarion)

  • Interest in learning and developing safety monitors for assigned product control systems

  • Understanding of AUTOSAR Architecture(s)

  • Knowledge of AGILE development methodologies

  • Availability for national or international travel

  • Military service must be completed or be deferred at least 2 years for male candidates
