Master Production Scheduler

The Master Production Scheduler will be responsible for owning, driving, and managing the development of the Plants Master Production plan. They will ensure that there is cross-functional involvement / alignment with all key stakeholders and that the plan is executed as agreed by the leadership team to meeting plant objectives.  The scope of the role will include all actions surrounding the development and execution of the Master Schedule and will include the supervision and oversight of the Customer Service Team ensure products are produced and shipped on time to fulfill customer needs and meet satisfaction expectations.

Master Scheduler Job Core Responsibilities
 

The Master Production Scheduler will be responsible for the development and ownership of the master production schedule covering all critical manufacturing resources and ensuring that the plan:

  • Fulfills all internal and external customer demand
  • Is balanced with resources and available capacity (Machine and/or Labor),
  • Master Production Scheduler will ensure that there is cross-functional involvement / alignment with all key stakeholders.
    • Production management/ME concerning resource capability/capacity, labor availability/working calendar and demonstrated performance
    • Support of Program Management concerning new parts PPAP, run at rate, product launch and End-of-Life planning,
    • Designs and develops the production schedule plan considering all aspects of production including low cost, timeliness, efficiency, plant capacity, and customer fulfillment
  • Support the plant continuous improvements plans for the planning, logistics, and supply chain functions driving the development of new reports, analytics, and tools.
  • The Master Production Scheduler will be responsible for managing and owning the plant S&OP process. Providing insights, analysis, and recommendations to help resolve customer production/delivery issues and operational constraints.
  • Own and ensure that the relevant ERP planning master data is regularly updated and accurately reflects supply capability (internal & external)
  • Report out on Operational & Planning KPI performance and provide detail to root cause analysis and guidance toward plantwide corrective actions
  • Respond daily to demand and supply changes and proactively drive the plant to deliver a stable, feasible plan that achieves the plants customer on-time delivery expectation and operational targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and schedule production sequence for each department and operation to maintain/improve established manufacturing workflow and efficiency utilizing the Master Production Schedule.
  • Manages production scheduling team to ensure production work orders are released to the production floor in accordance with the Master Production Schedule
  • Coordinate/expedite manufacturing releases/builds to ensure production schedules are achieved, as well as ensuring on-time shipment to customer.
  • Monitors the production plan daily to ensure it fully supports the Master Production Schedule and continually meets customer service goals, operational targets, inventory levels, and capacity utilization objectives
  • Runs daily production reports to review open sales orders, monitors backlog, identifies shortages and/or production issues.
  • Leads production scheduling team as the primary contact(s) with the appropriate Customer Service Representatives for matters regarding production status, schedule changes, and shipping information. May adjust schedule in response to customer feedback/requirements, product availability and manufacturing capacity.
  • Revise schedules to accommodate demand fluctuation, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions.
  • Forecasts the aggregate production requirements for the plant; monitoring the production workloads and capacities; producing a master production schedule to control and pace both internal production and the external supply chain
  • Provides timely information to management team and/or production personnel regarding schedule changes or revisions that have immediate or long-range impact to the facility
  • Works with Manufacturing/Operations on Master Production Schedule load versus work area capacity. Identify overload situations and work together to reconcile production while meeting business objectives
  • Communicates inabilities to meet desired production targets and identifies solutions to correct the plan to adhere to Master Schedule
  • Reviews material requirements planning accuracy through exception processing; resolve and manage data integrity issues in a timely manner
  • Responsible for reporting monthly production volumes and details to plant management and operations team; takes action to realign plan if production volumes are off target
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Customer Service Overview & Scope:
 

The Customer Service oversight is owned by the Master Scheduler and is a member of the Production Control and Logistics leadership Team. In this role He/She is responsible for leading all customer-facing Supply Chain and Logistics activities for the site.  This role is responsible for the Customer Service team tasks which includes the demand planning and Customer Service functions. He/She will develop, implement and lead the short-term Sales forecasting process to provide visibility and communication on sales, customer initiatives, market information and demand trends in support of business growth. He/She will partner closely with key functional leaders to implement the local customer strategy, validate forecast accuracy and methodology, provide input to the inventory strategy, and align financial/business plans with the operations plan through the S&OP process. This role is responsible for all customer satisfaction as it pertains to on time delivery and customer support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, and supports finance and operations with quarterly sales forecast cycle
  • Responsible for leading & facilitating current month sales forecast meetings, and supporting finance in the finalization of the sales forecast for BW corporate leadership
  • Manages customer service department to collaborate with sales, program management and operations management in the development of consensus for demand forecast and balanced production and inventory plan
  • Responsible for establishing and achieving the plant finished goods targets
  • Supports the S&OP process assuring proper communication and inputs are provided surrounding customer demand signals, critical needs or changes, and market intelligence.
  • Ensures demand plans are in place to support the creation of an effective master production schedule and materials requirements planning process
  • Partners with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the optimal balance between customer service levels and inventory utilization, and operations plan.
  • Works with all stakeholders to assure that all marketing and sales plans, product launches and product phase-outs are addressed as part of the S&OP process.
  • Supports plant operations to meet and exceed annual objectives on, cost savings, inventory goals, customer backlog, and overall customer satisfaction
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities for the demand Planning and Customer Service functions in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; motivating, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/ Experience/ Skills Required

  • 5 or more years’ experience in production planning/scheduling in a manufacturing environment
  • 3 plus years in a customer facing role with supervisor responsivities
  • Proven ability to structure and conduct advanced supply chain analyses within SAP, in the areas of inventory management, production planning, capacity planning, product launch planning, forecasting, and BOM documentation
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the customer interface – forecasting, order fulfillment, customer collaboration, relationship building and problem resolution
  • College degree with a BA/BS in supply chain, business management, or equivalent business discipline
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills: able to work with large data extracts, creating formats and formulas to obtain data based next step solutions.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
  • Must be able to set priorities and demonstrate a high level of organization in an environment of constant changes
  • Must be innovative, assertive, and possess strong business acumen
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong understand of ERP, MRP, MPS within SAP
  • Strong teamwork skills including cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficient in Excel (ex: able to use filters, pivot tables and V/H-Lookups to efficiently analyze and manipulate spreadsheet data)
  • 3-5 years’ experience supervising staff in the day-to-day performance preferred.
