Individual will have strong technical skills, quality skills (APQP/PPAP/Project Management), business planning skills, excellent communication and negotiation capability and a solid analytical ability. The candidate will be able to provide direction and focus to ongoing product improvements and contribute positively to the bottom line of BWTS. The individual will have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and allocate resources to deliver high impact results. The candidate shall foster a strong performance and work ethic within the organization, his/her peers, and fellow associates.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Manage/coordinate new program launches as it relates to purchased content under purchasing process/Procedure/Policy;
  • Being responsible for and maintain launch report and make sure BOM cost and Supplier tooling are under budget and program is launched on time;
  • Working with commodity team to define the Supplier Bidding List for new parts;
  • Work with cost estimator and commodity buyer to generate BOM cost for new program acquisition. 
  • Make and lead sourcing recommendations with commodity team and plants;
  • Conduct APQP with new part suppliers
  • Coordinate the PPAP approval process within the receiving plant with SDE/SQE.
  • Being the interface of GSM and other functional department and plants for purchasing issue regarding to program launch;
  • Coordinate launch activity within the GSM group – Commodity Management, Supplier Development and Launch Activity, inducing APQP assessment, R@R, Audits, supplier capacity commit etc.;
  • Work with product engineering to develop and implement long and short-range plans and objectives to ensure cost-competitive and efficient new product designs.
  • Drive new product design sourcing toward the BWTS preferred suppliers and support the category strategies that have been developed.
  • Introduce the organization to new technical developments in materials and components, which will help product engineering achieve its objectives.
  • Supplier liaison with the product engineering group to ensure fair and ethical treatment in all sourcing decisions.
  • Work with other BW plants to benchmark suppliers and “best” purchasing practices.
  • Perform job functions in accordance with applicable quality, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.


The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, etc…), or five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) is a plus.  Quality or Manufacturing operations experience, program management experience, cross functional experience is strongly desired.  Six Sigma certification is preferred.
