BorgWarner Morse Systems Celebrates 15 Years in Kakkalur, India, Announces Plant Expansion

  • Established as a joint venture in 2002, wholly owned since 2008
  • Produces engine timing components for cars, commercial trucks and motorcycles
  • 17,000-square-foot expansion planned later this year

Auburn Hills, Michigan, February 6, 2017 – BorgWarner, a global leader in clean and efficient technology solutions for combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles, celebrated the 15th anniversary of its manufacturing facility in Kakkalur, India. Originally established as a joint venture in 2002, the facility became a wholly owned BorgWarner entity in 2008. To meet growing demand for engine timing components for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and motorcycles, the company intends to add 17,000 square feet of manufacturing and engineering space later this year.

“As we celebrate 15 years of success in India, we look forward to continuing our growth with our latest expansion,” said Joel Wiegert, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Morse Systems. “We are excited to expand our locally produced product line with more advanced technologies designed to help customers meet new Bharat Stage VI emissions regulations,” added R. BorgWarner’s facility in Kakkalur produces engine timing systems including silent and roller chains, tensioners, arms and guides as well as phasers and controls to support variable valve timing applications. With a local team consisting of design and test engineering, sales, program management, supply chain, operations and administrative employees, BorgWarner offers customers local market expertise, fast customer service and cost-effective system solutions.
