Position Summary

Lead and execute inventory control and governance activities, including but not limited to cycle counting and inventory discrepancy troubleshooting.  Leads and supports continuous improvement projects execution. Main activities include counting all types of material within all areas of our logistic footprint (Plant, Shiloh, & Borg). 

The schedule for this position will be 6:00am-6:30pm. One week you would work 3 days and the next week you would work 4 days, with every other weekend off. The shift hours for this role do not change.

Standard Duties:

  • Drive safety through all activities.   Ensures the highest safety standards are maintained.
  • Lead and execute inventory cycle counts to update production and PC&L teams with accurate stock levels.  (Follow standard process)
  • Lead and support all inventory governance process audits required (receiving, shipping, scrap, etc.)
  • Analyze inventory data to troubleshoot inventory discrepancies in manufacturing process.  This may require extended time on manufacturing floor to validate SAP system numbers.
  • Update SAP inventory balances to keep accurate information for all MRP schedules
  • Communicate any stock outs based off inventory adjustments to PC&L.
  • Update TEAMS database with all count information and file all pertinent inventory control records.
  • Perform HU (handling unit) audits to keep all finished goods inventory updated. 
  • Work with quality teams to maintain SAP on hold deviation inventory stock levels.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects and implementation
  • Support 5S / Housekeeping activities as required.
  • Provides ongoing functional and system support, acting as the first level support for PC&L.  Assist when needed for material transactions involving QC hold and/or MRB related materials movement.
  • Manage, update, maintain all teams KPI's
  • Accurately and timely enters materials transactional information into SAP and other systems as required.
  • Coordinate daily usage control, implement perpetual inventory system as well as FIFO procedures and adequately re-organize accurate ordering supplies processes.
  • Performs needed stock adjustments in the SAP systems and communicate as necessary.
  • Troubleshoots inventory discrepancies physically and in SAP and/or manufacturing systems.
  • Interacts with operational users to answer questions and to ensure that they understand how to use the system to complete their job functions.
  • Ability to identify root cause investigation through factual data analysis.
  • Ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently and prevent reoccurrence
  • Performs blocking and unblocking of inventory in the ERP systems
  • Responsible for executing, monitoring, and training inventory best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitors the transfer of inventory from one location to another.   
  • Collaborates with associates/teams to contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes, efficient and accurate order completion, and problem resolution 
  • Determine item level order quantities and flow strategies and partner with PC&L Leadership Team to ensure timely and accurate execution of purchase orders.
  • Leverage historical data to identify key learnings around product, and inventory and apply learnings.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members and management in keeping an efficient, productive environment.   Communicate with PC&L team any necessary inventory changes to systems, schedules, or processes.
  • Facilitate development of procedures at local Borg locations that mitigate inventory loss and improve inventory control, and periodically travel to the affiliate locations to ensure implementation and compliance of these procedures
  • Perform inventory cycle counts, identify discrepancies, and ensure the corresponding inventory adjustments are completed in the ERP system
  • Collaborate with accounting personnel to plan the year-end inventory count and oversee the physical count process.
  • Compiles and maintains records of quantity, type, and value of material, property, equipment, merchandise, or supplies. 
  • Use appropriate deviation areas, hold tags, to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure.
  • Adherence to standard work procedures in addition to development and continuous improvement to the standards.
  • Assists in the reconciliation of Inventory Cycle Counts. 
  • Facilitate addressing and correcting Inventory discrepancies stemming from physical inventory counts. 
  • Lead, maintain and execute all PC&L department KPI’s (Safety, Internal / External Delivery, Logistics Quality, Cost (Scrap / HPUS), Associate Engagement and Teamwork)
  • Validate FIFO standards throughout all storage areas and material flow points.
  • Wear all required PPE within manufacturing areas and warehouses.
  • Create processes throughout the facility to improve and maintain inventory accuracy (this will require associate to be able to communicate effectively to Management and APLs
  • Investigate and come up with root cause for all variations with inventory
  • Work independently to drive key performance indicators including inventory accuracy and adherence to process.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders from Planning, Sales, and Finance to resolve any operational concerns or gaps in process related to inventory.
  • Analyze material transactions, historical data, and reports to inform and advise management on the allocation of resources to best accomplish objectives and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinates site-to-site material logistics to ensure materials are available in advance to support the Production Schedule.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute technical and statistical reports, inventory status updates, and monthly metrics to shops and management.
  • Ability to work with management to develop short-and-long term goals that meet established objectives and contributing to the overall goals of the team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Safety, Health and Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching, etc.
  • Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. repetitively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment operation manuals, Safety Data Sheets, and other literature as required
  • Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to loading machines, unloading machines, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
  • All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with the safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work in a wet environment with moderate to high noise volume
  • Punctual attendance to work is required.
  • May require occasional work from heights
  • Ability to distinguish color and depth perception are required. 
  • Good hand dexterity, hearing, and vision are considered essential. 
  • A moderate to high degree of repetitive motions using right, left, or both hands and/or feet may also be required.
  • Stepping up and down off lift; walking long distances over extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Partner with PC&L to coordinate inbound shipments.
  • Working in a non-climate-controlled environment occasionally.
  • Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to box cutting, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts

Education & Experience

Education: 
High School diploma or GED required

Associates Degree Preferred


Experience: 
 

  • 2-5 years’ experience with purchasing or inventory management highly preferred
    Active Forklift Certification License required
  • SAP/ERP systems expertise
  • Experience in fast paced industrial lean environment preferred
  • Inventory and production planning knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and experience.
  • Experience using ERP statistical software packages
  • Knowledge of demand management/forecasting tools, forecasting processes in sales, marketing operations, finance, manufacturing and supply chain issues
  • Good communication and team building skills
  • Attention to detail required.
  • MRP functionality expertise
  • Knowledge of key inventory performance metrics, turns, margin contributions, etc.
  • Ability to determine tasks, prioritize multiple demands and ensure the demands are executed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate with various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to utilize discretion and independent judgment in decision making in order to achieve departmental goals.
  • Understand relationship between actions and their impact to the business while having a sense of urgency.

  • Knowledge of required customs documentation and processing.

Computer Skills: 
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP Inventory software; advanced Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
