Senior Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (m/f/d)

The Senior Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for and expected to meet and exceed customer satisfaction expectations (both quality and delivery), shareholder satisfaction expectations (DivOp & Economic Value). The Senior Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, in conjunction with Engineering Groups, develops new products and successfully implements strategies in support of new processes and new technology launches. The Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineer resolves related global manufacturing process issues. The natural working environment for Global AME Engineer will be the Product Development Engineering Team as he is expected to collaborate with them very closely.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In collaboration with Engineering Groups – support of new e-products development
  • Develop manufacturing strategies that provides maximum operational flexibility with minimal investments.
  • Give consent to the finished engineering design to go over to the actual manufacturing and assembly of the product.
  • Create and manage statements of requirements with machine integration suppliers for equipment development
  • Promote and support a teamwork approach to achieving goals with particular emphasis on DFMA activities.
  • Maintain a work environment where third party intervention is not required or desired.
  • Actively participate in engineering improvements processes.
  • Direct and implement Manufacturing and Quality Engineering activities (prototype, launch & current product).
  • Coordinate effective and smooth new program launches for new process implementation.
  • Identify, implement, and manage cost reduction programs.
  • Develop a culture of good work ethic and process ownership among the workforce in all areas and between the plants.
  • Represent Global AME group at BorgWarner  plants and develop total customer (plant and Engineering groups) confidence.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline required; Master's Degree in Electro-mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years Engineering experience required, experience in automotive is preferred.
  • Knowledge in design and development of equipment and machinery that use both electrical and mechanical technology.
  • Understand the principles of electricity and electrical power circuits, as well as the associated risks.
  • Understand the principles and operations of devices that can convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, such as dynamos and alternators, rotors, stators, armatures, and fields.
  • Understand electrical engineering, a field of engineering that deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism.
  • Has advanced knowledge in the area of Electricity, Electromechanical and Electric Drives/Machines principles and how to combine this with mechanical elements for new product development reasons.
  • Understand the engineering elements like functionality, replicability, and costs in relation to the design and how they are applied in the completion of engineering projects.
  • Test electromechanical systems, machines, and components using appropriate equipment. Gather and analyze data. Monitor and evaluate system performance and take action if needed.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes like winding, crimping, isolation handling, potting, assembly of rotors and End of Line check.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, change management principles and processes.
  • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and/or 8D Problem Solving required.
  • Understand the principles of  Electronic Development Framework (EDF) / FUSA / ASPICE.
  • Good knowledge of the automotive industry including IATF, FMEA, DFM/DFA and APQP.
  • Analytical and creative way of working.
  • Strong motivation and ability to learn.
  • Good communication skills for both internal and external customers.
  • Availability to travel internationally approx. 60 % of time.
  • Possibility to relocate or available to work at least 10% on-site.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety systems and procedures.
