Supervisor all the product engineering activities including the adaptation of existing products into specific customer applications, preserving product integrity and functionality with respect to design intent and protecting the customer. Lead and develop the Applications Engineering team and effectively interface and collaborate with technical centers, customers and other BorgWarner plant locations as-necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Serves as a key customer contact regarding application of emissions components.
  • Provides engineering leadership to a team of Applications Engineers creating strong morale and team spirit while actively fostering wins/successes through results.
  • Ensures team provides full engineering and commercial service to customer for product sale and service.
  • Capable of guiding problem solving activity and fostering the use of strong analytical skills. Displays strong project management skills.
  • Is responsible for recognizing the need for and initiating appropriate management actions to assure positive customer relationship.
  • Attains project and management goals on time and within established budget.
  • Forecasts work activities for self and others.
  • Supervises program activities related to release and production launch of product designs.
  • Actively seeks and gains collaboration with internal and external team members.
  • Prepares and carries out significant internal and external project presentations.
  • Supervises all facets of application engineering including resource planning, timelines, customer interaction and collaboration with product development to ensure technology is delivered to customers in a timely manner.
  • Creates, develops or adapts product design concepts based on internal standards, calculations, trial, measurements, bench tests, CAE simulations, process methods or inputs from customers.
  • Establishes interface with customer for product and specifications definition.
  • Coordinates the planning and production of prototype samples.
  • Can coordinate Prototype Production cost calculation.
  • Can coordinate the Project Development and Project team up to industrialization kick-off.
  • Technically assists the production Plant within the scope of the products under serial production, for any required change due to product design correction, upgrade, or cost reduction.
  • Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies.
  • Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Facilitates employee involvement in developing, implementing and revising safety and health procedures
  • Performs timely incident investigations and correction of root causes
  • Participates / attends safety meetings and training
  • Tracks safety issues to closure
  • Performs other duties as needed, requested, directed or assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

        

         EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field from a four-year college or university 7+ years of engineering experience Must be available to travel 5 days per month, with minimal notification

            Preferred

Master’s degree 1-3 years of supervisory experience

Working knowledge of electronic components
