We operate in two groups: The Engine Group develops air management strategies and products to optimize engines for fuel efficiency, reduced emissions and enhanced performance. BorgWarner’s expertise includes engine timing systems, boosting systems, ignition systems, air and noise management, cooling and controls. The Drivetrain Group harnesses a legacy of more than 100 years as an industry innovator in transmission and all-wheel drive technology. The group leverages this understanding of powertrain clutching technology to develop interactive control systems and strategies for all types of torque management.

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Product Engineer - Electrical (PE-E) for Electronic Control units (ECUs) at our Propulsion Technical Center (PTC) in Auburn Hills MI.

As a PE-E for ECUs you will be responsible for providing program management and technical leadership to multiple cross-functional group of engineers developing and deploying our technologies for key customer projects from concept to serial production.  With your program management expertise you will be responsible for ensuring product deadlines, deliverables, financial and quality targets are achieved while adhering to product development processes and standards.  With your technical expertise in embedded software and electronic hardware development you will be responsible for the entire ECU technical solution, primary technical contact to the customer, and delivering a product that meets customer’s expectations.

As a member of our team, you will help to steer our organization forwards in the areas of processes, methodologies, tools and architectures, allowing us to bring innovative products to market, while preserving customer delivery efficiency and precision.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide program management and technical leadership in the execution of customer programs and internal development projects.
  • Primary technical customer contact for BorgWarner’s ECUs in the Electronics Systems & Controls (ES&C) team.
  • Develop and foster good customer relations.
  • Support internal departments and represent ES&C within the engineering organization.
  • Lead and/or contribute to the generation of ED&D estimates (timing plans, effort estimates, material, and travel costs) to support for BW product quotes.
  • Lead and/or contribute to organizational continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster and promote teamwork and collaboration by actively seek collaboration with internal and external team members.
  • Serve as a product function advocate.
  • Facilitate the investigation, root cause analysis, resolution development, and manage the closure of all relevant program/product issues in support of product development, production, line returns, warranty returns and service issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QULIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required (Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree)
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience required
  • Solid experience developing embedded systems; automotive and powertrain experience preferred. 
  • Experience and proven track record in leading complex hardware and software design and development activities from concept through production.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication (verbal and written) skills required.
  • Proficient in English language required
  • Strong project planning and management throughout the complete ECU development life-cycle.
  • Knowledge of Automotive SPICE,  APQP, DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis
  • Functional Safety (ISO26262) knowledge preferred
