SR. EHS ENGINEER II

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the development of programs and processes with respect to environmental, health, and safety policy, training, and organization development. Coordinates with supervisors, contractors and the general workforce to ensure adherence to BorgWarner World Class standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·         Develops programs and procedures designed to reduce occupational accident/injury/illness incidents.

·         Promotes health and safety awareness throughout the organization though effective employee communications and employee participation.

·         Ensures programs meet or exceed OSHA and EPA standards through training, auditing, and implementation of corrective actions to promote continuous improvement.

·         Lead teams in safety inspections, ergonomic risk assessments, job hazard analysis, waste minimization, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and Global Safety Star Framework (GSSF) initiatives, which will permit a high degree of employee involvement.

·         Develop and integrate waste management, minimization, and recycling into product development and production processes.

  • Responsible for oversight of WWTP

·         Familiarity with environmental permits, Hazardous Waste Management and other Environmental Stewardship programs.

  • Of specific emphasis Title V US EPA air permitting, JJJJ & MMMM air permitting compliance

·         Develops and conducts training programs on industrial safety, industrial hygiene, emergency planning, government regulations, hazardous materials, and other related issues.

·         Coordinates incident investigation including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions.

·         Develops, understands, and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies.

·         Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Requires a BS degree in Environmental, Health and Safety Sciences or other related field.

·         Requires a minimum of 5 years relevant manufacturing experience in environmental, health and safety.

·         ASP, CSP, CHMM, CIH and/or OSHA 501 certification(s) desirable, as is ISO14001 and Six Sigma experience.

·         Proactive work experience with employee relations, policy development, technical writing, training, and adherence to federal and state laws is required.

·         Must have an understanding of applicable Federal and State (OSHA / EPA) regulations and their application as it relates to the Environmental, Health and Safety functions.

·         Sound judgment, ethical values, communications, decision making and analytical problem solving skills are critical.

·         Proficiency with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is required. 

·         Occasional travel will be required.
