This position is for Cascadia Motion, a full system supplier of custom and catalog electric and hybrid vehicle propulsion system solutions. The company owns the full client project from quote/feasibility through electronic and mechanical design through in-house manufacture through build and test. Projects are typically prototype (A-sample) to low volume with an expectation of migration to higher volumes through our parent company (BorgWarner Inc, a Fortune-500 automotive parts supplier). Our customer base is extensive and international ranging from OEM to startup.

We have locations in both Hood River and Wilsonville, Oregon. The Mechanical Build Machinist role will be based in Hood River

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Create production and prototype parts utilizing machine tools and instructions from set up documents and engineering team. (70%)
  • Utilize measuring tools including CMM to verify manufactured parts are conforming. (30%)
  • Communicate regularly with management regarding the status of current projects.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Work with engineering and management to implement efficiency improvements
  • Assist with Manufacturing Engineering tasks as needed.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to analyze mechanical problems, interpret CNC machine setup and process needs and develop creative solutions
  • Understanding of GD&T as it applies to machined parts and assembly.
  • High degree of commitment, ownership and self-motivation in order to effectively manage part production from start to finish
  • Must be able to positively relate and interact with co-workers with a can-do attitude.
  • Exhibit reliable attendance, trustworthiness and high attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of machining, measurement and mechanical principles
  • Organized with good multi-tasking abilities

AUTHORITY

  • Consults with the company management group regarding project/task status
  • May halt production if a quality or safety problem is identified

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Manage various machined part projects as assigned and report to Management on status

EXPERIENCE

  • CNC shop experience. Broad mechanical experience.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED

This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses. He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and coworkers. In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
