Cost Analysis Manager

As a global supply management cost analysis manager, you turn data into information and information into insight to support the organization turning insight into business decisions.
The focus of your job is the collection, analysis and processing of suppliers spend, building reliable cost mode, should cost for different commodity/part with global commodity management team and internal/external information. The reliable information from the marketing and benchmarking study expect to improve supplier’s base competitiveness and finally drive and support new business opportunity and growth.


  • Develop total should be cost for all the major component/commodity of purchased parts from supplier and providing analysis and reports, including not only material cost, but also equipment, tooling, labor, cycle times, process and CAPEX etc.
  • Develop different approach/Tools to launch cost analysis within different situation, commodity and process;
  • Build cost database to strength the commodity leverage to support business growth for new programs and cost reduction of production parts;
  • Leading global cost team to target costing process, to continuously reduce cost of similar parts, category of sub-commodity;
  • Working and Developing core competency with functional team including engineering, manufacturing, GSM, supplier development and quality through adopting the should-cost approach as a standard way of working, like DFV, VAVE, Benchmarking tools;
  • Support Sales Design Team during quotation by providing should cost estimates or targets for the Bill of Material.
  • Work with the Engineering department by developing Design to Cost as a core competence.
  • Support commodity and advanced purchasing to strengthen the negotiation by providing should cost estimates and analysis.
  • Support cross functional commodity team in driving cost reductions, via supplier visits and audits, cost breakdowns and supplier development.


  • This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.  This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses.  He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and coworkers.  In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering
  • 10-15 years relevant experience; preferably extend with 5+ years in manufacturing and engineering and have good experience in stamping, casting, machining, electrical;
  • Solid experience and Knowledge in commodity analysis, components cost, costing trends, engineering processes, and product development processes.
  • Strong background in optimizing total cost of ownership through working with cost drivers, multiple data sources, cost models and quality and quality improvement knowledge.
  • Proven track record of collaborating between suppliers and internal product functions to drive best cost and quality.
  • Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Qlik etc.), databases (SQL etc.).
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (e.g. Excel, Minitab etc.)
  • Innovative thinker - quickly adapt to changing situations and high-level summary ability
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across functions and organizations.
