Prototype and Quality Teardown Manager

This position will lead the prototype and quality teardown shop.
He/ She will lead the prototype components ordering, inspection, building, process documentation, cost accounting, and quality teardown for prototype samples which we build.
In addition, this position will be expected to be a cross-functional leader who is managing team members to work for internal/ external customers among engineering, quality, purchasing, and sales team and to keep all schedule on time.


  • Develop a system/ process to track and control prototype order and inventory, introduce/ implement the system to BW internal functions, and drive/ improve continuously the process in order to gain higher productivity.
  • Coordinate and support with other functional areas (quality, application engineering, application design, production manufacturing, purchasing, and R&D) as needed to achieve the successful building, quality level and documentation of the prototype Turbocharger or test Turbocharger.
  • 100% on time delivery of prototype and test part per internal or external requirements to be secured by proper measurement method and frequency.
  • Responsible for quality teardown – dis-assembly, inspection and documentation of prototype samples which we build in support of application engineer and application designer.
  • Developing and maintaining clean and organized workshop utilizing 5S.
  • Cross training with test center engineers and technicians. Proto sample purchase requisitioning to SCM.
  • Develop local suppliers with cross functional team (application engineer, application designer, quality engineer, and purchasing).
  • EHS representative to secure the safety as the highest priority including fire protection manager and EHS promoter roles.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or above in mechanical / electronical engineering.
  • Min 5 years’ experience in the automotive industry or in a global manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of complex design drawings, layouts, stack-ups, and verbal design instructions, and advanced understanding of applying geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T).
  • Deep knowledge of measurement and testing equipment.
  • Understanding the manufacturing process of mechanical products.
  • Must be a team player and have good organizational skills including the ability to

    prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

  • Driver license is a plus
  • Proficient with MS software - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Professional verbal and written English (TOEIC 650≤) & Japanese (N2≤) communication skills essential.
